According to a report from CNN, Donald Trump’s focus on unseating Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) has the Republican leadership throwing up their hands in exasperation as they look toward the 2022 elections.
While multiple GOP lawmakers voted against the ex-president during his second impeachment trial, Trump has been laser-focused on the one female senator who broke ranks and said he should have been removed from office.
Since that time, Kelly Tshibaka, a former Alaska Department of Administration commissioner, has jumped into the race with help from former Trump advisers while Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has offered his full support for the incumbent which is setting up what could turn into an ugly intra-party battle at a time when the GOP is trying to win back the Senate.
According to the CNN report, Republicans are being put in an “awkward position as they remain divided about the former President’s role in the party, and try to unify ahead of the 2022 midterms with control of Congress at stake.”
“Republican leaders in Washington say they are steadfastly behind Murkowski, with McConnell’s big-spending super PAC, the Senate Leadership Fund, as well as the NRSC, backing the long-time incumbent.
But McConnell has been in a cold war with Trump after blaming the President for causing the insurrection,” the report notes, adding that Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) gave Trump a leadership award after he called McConnell a “dumb son of a b*tch” in a speech before GOP donors.
For his part, Scott “defended the award, noting it was for Trump’s policies, but also said he disagrees with his attacks on McConnell and backs Murkowski — all the while arguing the party needs to unify to win back the Senate.”

Nailed it.
GOP leadership... right...
Ya see, it’s perfectly ok for them to try to remove Trump from office (subterfuge, impeachments, election games).
But when Trump (and conservatives) try to remove one of THEM from office, well that’s just terrible! Why, the effrontery!
To the RINO GOP: You have messed with us and stiffed us for the last time . . . we are highly PO’d and we are going to make you extinct.
That’s ok - were frustrated with the spineless GOP leadership (so-called)
They should just be happy that Trump isn’t starting a new party so they can keep their tea parties and Boehner can keep himself stocked with booze.
Seems like leadership is worried about remaining in leadership...
How I managed to support such a bunch of weak sisters for decades is a real embarrassment.
That's nothing compared to how much We The People, are frustrated, and OUTRAGED, with GOP "leadership", that surrendered our nation to an illegal, unelected, controlled-by-hostile-foreign-interests, CRIMINAL, tyrannical, "government".
😡
Time for the Gop to wake up ,no more wading boot elections. We will get new people in.So tired of the crap support they ever give us or our President we get in.
GOP leadership....🖕🤬🖕
I don’t give a hoot who wages war on that despicable POS as long as someone does.
If it is Trump even better.
If the “GOP” doesn’t like it, they can go pound sand. They damn well better begin paying attention to conservatives who are dissatisfied with the GOP, or they really will become extinct.
I don’t have high hopes, though.
Mitch and Thune ain’t “GOP LEADERSHIP.” They are just keeping the seats warm until Cruz and Johnson take over in January of 23.
That scenario and those like it lend a veneer of respectability and authenticity to “Bipartisanship”.
A pox on her and those who support her in any fashion.
The entire eGOP needs to be completely burned to the ground in a raging white hot all consuming fire.
"A house divided against itself cannot stand."
At one point in the past, the argument might be made that there was a GOP and a GOPe, and that some distinction might be made and the GOPe could be excised and discarded.
But the reaction of the GOP at large to pervasive election fraud in the last election (which was no reaction, they sat on their hands and shut up with isolated exceptions) has shown clearly that it is the GOP that is going to be excised and discarded.
and all honest, benevolent, decent people are fed up with the so-called GOP "leadership"!
Why?!?!!
The GOP candidate whoever it is will win AK handily..
So why is the leadership upset? Dump an democrat with an R beside their name.. why upset?
Simple, they want that D with an R beside their name
There.
If they want to unify it’s pretty easy, stop financially backing Murkowski. Alaska doesn’t want her si stop being jerks.
