Chad's President Idriss Debby has died while visiting troops on the front lines of a fight against northern rebels, an army spokesman said on Tuesday. Deby's death comes just one day after he was declared the winner of a sixth term in office, marking over 30 years in power.

That’s actually bad news.
Whatever his policies and how democratic his elections were, he was the biggest, most reliable force fighting Islamists in Africa. Not just in Chad, but in the whole region.
For small subsidy, he send Chadian forces to everywhere in North Africa, always ready to fight ISIS and other extremists.
E.g. Chad forces were the only one able to control Nigeria’s Boko Haram.

Traditionally the Vice President has been sent to attend the funerals of foreign heads of state or important dignitaries. Of course Kamala did not go to the recent funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh because the UK is a white supremacist country, but will she go to the funeral in Chad? Or will Covid-19 be used as an excuse?
