Gov. Tim Walz has declared a state of emergency in the seven-county Twin Cities Metro and is bringing in police backup from Ohio and Nebraska as a verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial nears.
"We can’t live like this. We simply can’t. But we can’t have thousands of businesses burned and people put at risk," Walz said at a Monday evening news conference when asked about the security strategy.
Walz and the mayors of Minneapolis and St. Paul said they would not order curfews for the entire week as the verdict looms. Curfews are likely on the city level on a day-by-day basis, not preemptively, a spokesman for the governor later said.
Walz is also asking the state Legislature to free up millions of dollars in emergency security funding.
Monday afternoon, the Minnesota Senate quickly passed $9 million in emergency funding to deal with unrest in the Twin Cities, with Republicans saying it was needed to keep the peace.

Walz is “the emergency”. He gives a sponge, jellyfish, and jello a good name re having a backbone.
Minnesota elected one of the worst “cowards of the county” in modern American history. They are getting what they deserve, in Molotov cocktails, bullets, frozen bottles, and terrorism.
Anyone heard the words “Impeach” or “Recall” recently? If there is silence, they deserve what they are getting.
Target should put exploding white dye on all the merchandise—that will prove that white people did the looting!
Why bring other cops in? The voters voted.. let them own their #cinder cities.
No cops will stand for the sacrifice except the Minneapolis chief of police????
I was thinking the same thing. Basic geography.
Having gutted the inner cities last summer, this time the BLM and Antifa rioters have promised to target the neighborhoods where campaign donors live.
Chauvin should be acquitted of all charges. He was trying to do his job. George Floyd was resisting arrest for some fifteen minutes before Chauvin arrived on the scene. Floyd refused to get in the police SUV. He kicked and thrashed and yelled. Four officers couldn’t subdue him. I watched the defense summation and it was obvious what was going on.
Floyd was playacting, probably figured if he yelled and moaned loudly enough a crowd would gather to take care of the police. He was yelling and moaning even after they put him on the ground to subdue him. He was on something that made him so strong that he wasn’t brought under control until Chauvin had him on the ground with his knee on his shoulder in a police-authorized method of subduing someone resisting arrest.
OK.. thanks, I remember when i lived back in Duluth, but back them Oberstar was my rep..
“Looters can hardly wait for the results....they’ve been scouting and planning their hits for weeks now...anything but guilty they’ll be in the streets.....”
************************************************************
I seriously doubt the mob will wait for any verdict. Expecting the mob will wait to react to a verdict is naïve. This thing is ready to blow. BLM has the mob in a state of delirium. Nothing will hold back the stampede for big screens, Nikes, etc.
You’re probably right...we will certainly see.
Would be hilarious if the merchants stocked all of their lootables with Chinese seconds and low quality knocks offs but they’re too scared to be called racist.
OHIO PING!
Please let me know if you want on or off the Ohio Ping list.

The clowns don’t want justice. They want power. Changing was arrested, charged, and now convicted. But that’s not enough. The democrats are pushing and pushing and pushing. They know now is the time to release their foot soldiers and we deplorables.
