Stanford study quietly published at NIH.gov proves face masks are absolutely worthless against Covid
The diapers most of us are wearing on our face most of the time apparently have no effect at stopping Covid-19. This explains a lot.

Did you hear about the peer-reviewed study done by Stanford University that demonstrates beyond a reasonable doubt that face masks have absolutely zero chance of preventing the spread of Covid-19? No? It was posted on the the National Center for Biological Information government website. The NCBI is a branch of the National Institute for Health, so one would think such a study would be widely reported by mainstream media and embraced by the “science-loving” folks in Big Tech.

Instead, a DuckDuckGo search reveals it was picked up by ZERO mainstream media outlets and Big Tech tyrants will suspend people who post it, as political strategist Steve Cortes learned the hard way when he posted a Tweet that went against the face mask narrative. The Tweet itself featured a quote and a link that prompted Twitter to suspend his account, potentially indefinitely.

He was quoting directly from the NCBI publication of the study. The government website he linked to features a peer-reviewed study by Stanford University’s Baruch Vainshelboim. In it, he cited 67 scholars, doctors, scientists, and other studies to support his conclusions.

The sentence Cortes quoted from the study’s conclusion reads: “The data suggest that both medical and non-medical facemasks are ineffective to block human-to-human transmission of viral and infectious disease such SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, supporting against the usage of facemasks.”

Vainshelboim drew many conclusions from the vast information he compiled, but arguably the biggest bombshell in it can be found in the “Efficacy of facemasks” section [emphasis added]:

According to the current knowledge, the virus SARS-CoV-2 has a diameter of 60 nm to 140 nm [nanometers (billionth of a meter)] [16], [17], while medical and non-medical facemasks’ thread diameter ranges from 55 µm to 440 µm [micrometers (one millionth of a meter), which is more than 1000 times larger [25]. Due to the difference in sizes between SARS-CoV-2 diameter and facemasks thread diameter (the virus is 1000 times smaller), SARS-CoV-2 can easily pass through any facemask

Regarding item #5 in your list:

Look at the effect of masks on deaf and hearing disabled folks.

I know plenty of very bright people who cannot spell to save their lives thanks to public education and getting rid of phonics and memorization.

“even the other study admits that there is a benefit from masks only from symptomatic (already sick) individuals. “

Point out where it says “only”.

One of the hazards of scientifically naive people attempting to read scientific articles is the failure to understand what they read. No serious researcher ever relies on the introductory abstract.

These are written to satisfy editors, not to convey accurate information. Turn to the Method section and the Results section and peruse the statistics. The Leung et al article clearly documents that there was no statistically significant difference between mask and no mask conditions for hypothetical transmission of Covid 19.

I would hope it wouldn’t have been peer reviewed by grammar and spell checkers...

fine, that’s your opinion, others disagree

I feel like I just destroyed that "study". The author literally used another study that concluded that wearing masks did reduce the transmission of Covid droplets to support his conclusion that masks don't reduce the transmission of Covid droplets. How is that not BS?

And then he's going to conclude that masks cause hypercapnia and hypoxia when it has been shown repeatedly that they don't.

And then he claims that they can block a 0.299 nm dia. O2 molecule and a 33 nm dia. CO2 molecule but there's just no way they can block a 140 nm dia. Covid virus. Seems like some BS to me.

what do you think of requiring asymptomatic or healthy people to wear impediments to the only respiratory apparatus we have, our nostrils

It's not really an impediment IMO. Wearing an N95 all day would be an impediment but wearing a surgical mask into a crowded store while you shop isn't.

The Covid flu was a hoax, masks a hoax, the “vaccines “ a hoax. Americans were played by fear from a virus that has a 99.9 percent ( current figure) of survival....the Covid virus has burnt itself out....as do all viruses.

"Best bet is to use your personal experience with colds & flu in your own household."

Interesting that you would suggest that.

re covid and my family's experience....

My sister and her family of 4 are religious mask wearers and sanitizing everything. For a small peak into their mindset, she is generally a "classic" liberal and he is generally an "independent" when it comes to politics and world views. They are both teachers. The only one in their family that is immunocompromised is their special needs teen daughter who was going to a special needs school that was open early last fall.
They have nurses that are on site and help with various needs.
EVERYBODY was an ardent mask wearer and followed the government's protocols judiciously.

The daughter wound up infected with covid and it was traced back to one of the nurses at the school. She in turn infected her sister and both mom (my sister) and dad (my brother-in-law).
The first conversation I had with my sister...she told me that when they informed their youngest (9 at the time) they all had covid....the daughter's 1st response was to ask if they were all going to die. No joke. This is how much the fear porn has affected people I know. Since then, all have recovered after about a week or so of mild/moderate "flu like" symptoms.

As for my immediate family, wife and I are conservative with background/working in the scientific and health care fields and 3 kids. Nobody is immunocompromised.
Our daughter, the youngest, goes to a Christian high school. They went back to in person learning early in the school year last fall.
About a month after my sister's daughter brought covid home to their entire family of mask wearers and government covid rule followers...our daughter brought covid home from another student at school. Their school did all the things the government told them to do in order to open and remain open. Distancing, washing, sanitizing, temp checks, mask wearing....everything.
Well, she wound up being the only one in the family to have covid (we've all been tested multiple times). We did no additional cleaning/sanitizing over what we normally would do around the house. Nobody quarantined while at home (ex. in their room) and we never wore a mask in our house. Our daughter is doing fine, with only a remaining slight decrease in sense of smell that gets better by the week.
We only ever wear a mask when required to shop or when required to be somewhere (i.e. at work, or even while outdoors skiing). Unfortunately for this case, we live in a blue (formerly red) state that has perpetuated the insanity of lockdowns and other unscientific mandates.

We've known for a long time now that this isn't the black plague. Point is from our perspective...be concerned if your immunocompromised for any reason (age, disease, etc), wear a mask and eye protection and take necessary precautions to limit exposure....like you SHOULD do with ANY outbreak of infectious disease in your area.

EVERYONE else should be "allowed" to go back to their lives as before.

From Results:

“We detected coronavirus in respiratory droplets and aerosols in 3 of 10 (30%) and 4 of 10 (40%) of the samples collected without face masks, respectively, but did not detect any virus in respiratory droplets or aerosols collected from participants wearing face masks, this difference was significant in aerosols and showed a trend toward reduced detection in respiratory droplets (Table 1b).”

Many of us have known this from decades of hands-on experience with PPE but have failed to educate those millions upon millions of irrationally frightened people that they have been lied to -- persistently lied to for over a year -- by their beloved "experts" who damn well know that masks are completely -- totally and without doubt -- ineffective against transmission of a respiratory virus.

The challenge that simply and without compromise must be overcome is to convince people that they are causing serious harm in a variety of ways to themselves, to their children, to their society, to their country ... to their very quality of living by continuing to wear -- and continue to demand that everyone else, healthy or not wear -- these vile, dehumanizing, useless masks!

All right. Let's talk about the meat and potatoes of the study then. This is what it found:

the virus is transmitted via droplets

I don't know. Seems to be the prevailing thought that the virus is aerosolized. If so I suppose that is technically "droplets" but so small they float.

I’m anti-mandatory-mask for numerous reasons but this idiotic article about a seemingly flawed paper would not help my argument.

Droplets and aerosols aren't completely distinct from one another-they exist in a continuum-from bigger to smaller. We stopped using duoneb and albuterol aerosols in the hospital because of the aerosolization risk and opted to use metered dose inhalers instead. The concern is "hang time"-how long a droplet hangs out in the air currents before hitting the ground.

I imagine a crowded wal mart super center that has people coming and going all day long. They're all contributing to the number of respiratory droplets floating around in a Brownian motion suspension. Some of the smaller droplets are, for all intents and purposes, aerosols and they can hang out in the air current for hours. If you're in the middle of a pandemic, this could be a problem. This is also why social distancing is an equally important component to these mitigation measures. the masks decrease the distance the droplets travel before hitting the ground and the social distancing decreases the likelihood of breathing in an infectious dose.

And, last time I checked, we don't even know what the infectious dose of Covid is yet but there is a likelihood that breathing a larger dose increases the probability of developing severe disease so that's another aspect to all of this. Maybe it doesn't stop you from getting it but it stops you from getting a bunch of it and, thereby, developing the more severe form of the disease.

I’m in the land of the blue state weinies. Believe me, I know their arguments:

- the big issue is not getting too big a load of exposure and spitum and the like are big clumps that would be more likely to be trapped within a sick person’s mask. Blah blah blah.

Do you truly not understand that although it's true that a mask -- even a mask that is improperly applied/fit tested, worn and maintained as most are which in itself renders the mask completely ineffective -- can, like a handkerchief, capture droplets generated by a cough or a sneeze or from spittle, it's what happens afterwards that is ignored.

Unlike a handkerchief which goes back into a pocket, the mask stays on the face ... and what do you think occurs when that droplet dries out after 10 or 15 minutes? Like any non-HEPA dry filter the residue unloads and, if viruses are present (of course we just assume even healthy people are covid carriers), the particles are discharged, either though the mask with each exhale (though the mask cannot contain a virus it does restrict airflow causing a significant increase in the exhaled air velocity), or deep into the lungs of the masker with each exhale.

(Note: I'm not just some internet opinion writer here ... I have over five decades of hands-on experience with PPE ... you should consider this explanation.)
