Vice President Kamala Harris met separately with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on Friday morning during his visit to the White House complex.

Harris first welcomed Suga to the United States prior to their meeting in her office in the Executive Office Building across the street from the White House.

I hope Kamala stuck with speaking English and didn’t try any tourist’s Japanese out during this meeting.
The little I know about Japanese is that, like most Asian languages, it is complex and very easy to make a mistake while being too friendly.

Americans tend to behaving overly casual in formal settings, compared to other developed countries. I believe there are at least three different dialects commonly used in Japan. I hope she didn’t start laughing out of context again.
