City officials have released videos and other material showing what happened the night police fatally shot 13-year-old Adam Toledo.
“Empty hands. Another nightmare scenario.”

See post 95 above and the split second earlier image it refers to. How close (or far) are you to accepting that analysis?
I fully believe he had a gun in his hand and tossed it while turning and in the same motion raised his hands.
If it goes to jury I’m glad I won’t be on it.
The gun is visible low and behind the kid’s back.
As the kid rotates his body obscures the view of the gun hand and the gun — probably purposefully trying to hide the gun toss from the cop,
From the viewpoint the cops bodycam, the initial hand/arm motion (while the gun is still visible) resembles a shooter bringing the gun up to shoot as they are wheeling to face their target. However, while the gun hand was in the officers blind spot, hidden by the kid’s body, the kids tossed it in such a way that the cop could not see it being tossed.
Less than one second passed between the time the gun was visible and the kid was shot.
Sad situation. Reasonable shoot.
A news media person says the truth!

We need to shut down the gangs that lured this teen to the streets and ultimately caused his death.”
If you ask the folks around here, that is exactly right. Police are always right period.
This shoot was about as bad as it can get period. This was another “just in case because I am a scared rabbit” and “everyone but myself is expendable” shooting.
Scared crybaby rabbits should not be police officers.
See the still frame at post 19. That's as slow as it gets and no gun is visible. It looks like the young man dropped the gun as directed and then put his hands up if he in fact was holding a gun at some earlier time.
He did exactly that... and still got shot to DEATH.
“Just in case”... Better to be safe than sorry right?
Except as the still photo in post 19 seems to show this kid did exactly what the police said. He dropped the gun and then put his hands up. And then he got killed anyway.
Absolutely... Period.
Yep...
I agree. If you’re that scared, don’t chase the kid in the first place.
Oh man, those body cams are a sunny beech. You can’t just plant a drop gun on them anymore.
So we are at looking like gangster means you deserve to die?
Try again. Look at the chart you posted and read the line starting with 2021, which according to my calendar is "this year". Three killed and five wounded.
It is a shame that prosecutors, judges, and juries don't apply your standard to situations where civilians end up using deadly force. If they make a mistake they end up in jail for many years.
“Thanks for the still shot. So, hands up, open, no gun anywhere in evidence. That’s murder.”
I fyou would have watched a couple of the vids (first 2), you would have seen the kid dump his pistol behind the privacy fence then turn and get dropped by the pursuing officer. The whole situation was messed up. My question is what was a kid doing out on the streets at 2:30 in the morning?
I just called out to my wife in the other room and asked her if she knew what time the riots come on. You know, like asking what time the Lakers come on when I was a kid. Same kinda thing these days.
Easy to criticize when you're on the sidelines and have the "benefit" of being able to second guess.
It's a different story when it's your ass on the line and a split second decision.
You and I have no argument here, I think we’re of like mind.
Which means that even if he is still holding the pistol he is not an immediate threat to the officer. Imagine what would happen to you if you told an armed person you found in your garage to put up their hands and they did, so that the pistol was pointed at the ceiling, and then you shot them.
Do you think the DA would say "that's fine" or prosecute you for murder?
