Signs of Dem desperation as legislators bypass Biden’s commission and plan to introduce court-packing legislation today

Why have a group of Congressional Democrats symbolically flipped the bird to “the Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States” that President Biden created by Executive Order only 6 days ago? Andrea Widburg has an excellent blog on these pages today on the announcement and its place in the broader plan of the Dems to alter the institutional framework of governance so as to ensure permanent Democrat majorities.

That group of purported “experts” appointed by Biden’s Executive Order was stacked to likely yield a result congenial to expanding court so as to hand a rubber stamp majority to the Dems, as Bloomberg reported:

The commission skews left, with progressives holding a 3:1 ratio to conservatives, according the Ilya Shapiro, of the libertarian Cato Institute think tank. (snip)

The panel also leans heavily on professors, with just a handful of members whose experience isn’t primarily in legal or political academics. Moreover, approximately 80% are graduates or otherwise affiliated with just two schools—Harvard and Yale.

Mitch McConnell, who for all his faults masterminded confirmation of the court’s current majority, saw the commission as a threat:

McConnell released a statement calling Biden's commission, which will study topics including whether to add more seats to the nation's highest court, a "direct assault on our nation’s independent judiciary."

McConnell also reminded Biden of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s position on expanding the court beyond nine justices.

"Nine seems to be a good number. It's been that way for a long time," Ginsburg said in a July 2019 interview. "I think it was a bad idea when President Franklin Roosevelt tried to pack the court."

"Rational observers know well there is nothing about the structure or operation of the judicial branch that requires ‘study,’" McConnell said Friday.

Who writes these headlines?!

Dem desperation?! Get out! Dems are in the midst of remaking, realigning, and destroying America. They are nearly orgasmic over the prospects, and most likely amazed at how easy it has been.

Not “desperation”.

Despotism.

That’s what I wonder. Biden just announced this commission will study the Supreme Court issues.

But now Democrats are preemptively announcing plans to pack the court.

I guess we shouldn’t expect consistent explanations for what they are doing.

Good points, why wait for a stacked commission to issue a report saying they should stack the court? Do it now, time is ticking towards 2020 and the Dems move w/o delay, unlike the GOP.

Exactly.

There is no desperation here at all.

They know they have the opportunity to finish this republic off and they have a heavy foot on the gas pedal to do just that.

If we read the collapse of the Roman Empire (which closely correlates to our own), we understand the people hated their own corrupt government so much that they didn’t care whether their nation was conquered or not. The antics, corruption and stealing of the elections makes many in this country wonder if another foreign power would be any worse. This is a VERY dangerous mindset for a country. It appears DIVERSITY doesn’t make us stronger but divides us. (at least certain types of diversity)

The commission was only formed to give some sort of cover to the dem’s court packing plan, which is now submitted to congress.

I agree that the intent was for the commission to provide political cover for plans to pack the Supreme Court.

But here we see they didn’t even let that commission do any work, before they jumped the gun and decided to pack the court, independent of any recommendations from the commission.

Full court press.

Introduce legislation, commission a commission, ramp up the presses critical of SCTOUS, need to overtun Heller and assorted other cases. Restore the Consitution to “living” in order to preserve it.

Government is enemy of personal liberty.

If Biden and the chickenhawks blunder us into a real war, they may find a surprising lack of support domestically. And if the military gets their butts handed to them, who knows how that pans out.

Case in point: someone pierced the shield of stupidity and now those warships headed to the Black Sea made a u-turn.
