McDonald’s said Wednesday that it will mandate worker training to combat harassment, discrimination and violence in its restaurants worldwide starting next year.
The training will be required for 2 million workers at 39,000 stores worldwide.
“It’s really important that we be very clear: A safe and respectful workplace where people feel like they’re going to be protected is critically important for our business,” McDonald’s President and CEO Chris Kempczinski said in an interview with The Associated Press. “It’s just what society is expecting.”

Pink slime is harassment.
McDonald’s are going to provide cage fighting lessons to interested employees. And all employees will be given tasers for those unruly customers.
For the safety of employees, how about defensive fighting lessons?

It’s been at least 20 years since I’ve been to a McDonald’s.
I like McDonalds, but one needs to show judgment in which one you go to. A suburban McD in the daytime? Probably OK. Small town? Probably OK. Near the interstate in a big city, just off MLK Blvd? Maybe time to drive on.
I thought that was a Burger King in Memphis?
I just think it’s ironic they want employee to be sensitive, nice and inclusive to all, after incident after incident, video after video of employees being physically attacked and sometimes killed by their precious customers.
I’m thinking their announcement is code that means employees will be trained not to deliberately contaminate the food of customers they don’t like.
I thought it was a nationwide issue.
Might have well posted it at least twice. I’m sure many here are in the same boat. I haven’t eaten that crap but once in the last few years. Each time nostalgia hits me reality smacks me in the gut.

If they believed science they wouldn’t expect distributions of employees by level by sex or race to match population distributions.

Meh. Their food isn’t for squat now, anyway. When they took the pink slime out of the burgers and the beef tallow out of the french fry oil, the quality went to hell. McDonald’s has been on a slow-motion slide into activist totalitarianism for a couple of decades.
