Well played, Joe
Announce retreat on the day celebrated by islamist fanatics as their great victory over America

Biden is simply doing everything Trump was trying to do but being prevented from (infrastructure plan, distribution of vaccine, stopping the wars, etc)
Jenifer Lawrence says ‘Yeah, sure. U-huh!”
What a moron. How about we make such a big deal about tying it into 9/11 that we make it a huge target.
Effing idiot.
The only thing we should do different is to drop 1,000 bombs on 1,000 warlord compounds on the way out.
Traitor Joe forgot to add at one minute past noon local time. That way the Taliban could get their celebration coordinated with his capitulation.
Little Billie Krisol will mouth breath his way through the formal surrender ceremonies.
So I understand, you’re saying those parents want to send their kids to Afghanistan to be mutilated or killed for no real reason other than to enrich the military-industrial complex and keep the CIA’s opium farms running?
They should be out today. Then out of Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Africa, Europe, South Korea, and Japan.
Bring them all home. Maintain rapid response assets pre-positioned around the world.
Which one of our embassies is going to get hit this year?
I should have been more clear. . .the kids are deciding to get out of the military in wake of the jab, etc. requirements. And some are rethinking signing up. Sorry for my vagueness.
If something is to be done, count on the perverse Democrats to do it exactly opposite of common sense. They have ODD—oppositional defiant disorder.
Afghanistan’s future will be monitored and interfered with by Pakistan, Iran and Russia. All three will make what agreements they can with the Taliban and all three will make overt and covert alliances with other Afghans as well. I doubt there will ever be an Afghanistan free of the Taliban or that is truly on its own, or without large foreign influences shaping or trying to shape outcomes there.
The Russian interest is as a counter weight to China and China’s large support for Pakistan, as well as the proximity of the other “stans” - Tajikistan. Kyrgyzstan. Uzbekistan. Turkmenistan. Kazakhstan. - resting between Russia and Afghanistan.
Pakistan helped create the Taliban and initially controlled it through it’s intelligence services (ISI). But the Taliban developed sufficient independence from the ISI that while their intelligence links may still exist Taliban leaders control Taliban operations.
At some point Pakistan may wind up viewing the Taliban as a true enemy. It began as essentially a Pashtun ethnic-religious based organization, used by the ISI to exert Pakistan-based control over Afghanistan. But while the Pashtun are a majority in Afghanistan they are only 15% (and second largest ethnic group) in Pakistan. And the Pashtun-Taliban are religiously (ultra fundamentalist Islamists) and politically related to religious militants in the North-West province of Pakistan - which the Pakistan military have tried to suppress.
Iran sits beside Afghanistan on the west, and the Mullahs in Tehran will always be seeking what overt and covert influence they can in Afghanistan. The Mullahs are brothers with the Taliban in fundamentalist Islamism, though from a Shia perspective as opposed to the Sunni perspective of the Taliban. So Shia Muslims in Afghanistan will fit prominently in Iran’s relations with Afghanistan, and larger Afghanistan’s concerns with Iran.
The U.S. has had 20 years of maintaining a war footing between the Taliban and everyone else in Afghanistan, without “victory” for anyone.
Now the U.S. can sit back and watch what transpires there with Pakistan, Iran and Russia doing whatever they can to influence Afghanistan’s direction.
We should have never been there.
Or Iraq.
Any government official or “journalist” supporting either of those wars should be hanging from the neck after a war crimes trial.
I think you’d run out of rope.
Nope, we should just go home.
Feel bad for the National Army (ANA ) soldiers. Some very good people there. It honestly took most of the 18 years we supported them to get rid of ineffective leadership. Simple things like not manning static roadblocks were always ignored. In isolation they were constantly over run with men killed, weapons taken.
ANA has been bearing the weight of fighting and suffering real losses. Year after year. There is a certain sadness walking away, but I don’t see any other option. They need to make their own peace.
Best thing we could do is give every family a few AKs and 3-4K rounds to make a polite society.
Truth.
There’s always fishing line and piano wire.
I hope so. Keep our troops unless there is the political will to win the fight.
