When the police ask you to get out of your car, you get out of your car and THEN ask why you have been stopped. What this troop and apparently you failed to understand is his vehicle may have been similar to another one recently reported to have committed a crime.
Refusing to exit his vehicle would signal to me that the guy is hiding something. He did ask why he was stopped and they told him to exit the vehicle and it would be explained. Yet the big shot 2nd Lt (they are the laughing stock of the military anyway) decided he would get into a pissing contest with the Police.
It is obvious the police felt they were in danger and they were being hyper cautious. There is more to this story. The cop was fired because the powers that be are totally intimidated and scared shitless of a riot by the marauding jerk offs who seem to be in charge of the Country and are above the law.
"May have been"...always a good excuse.
Per LATimes...“The Los Angeles police officers who mistakenly shot at two newspaper delivery women in their truck in Torrance thinking it was the vehicle of fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner will be kept out of the field until an investigation into the shooting is complete, Chief Charlie Beck said.“
“The seven officers were working a protection detail Feb. 7 near the home of a high-ranking LAPD official who was a potential target for Dorner when they riddled the women's blue Toyota Tacoma truck with bullets after mistaking it for Dorner's gray Nissan truck.“
These ladies received a $4.2 million settlement from LA. l hope the Lieutenant receives the same.
Here is NOT Christopher Dorner's gray pickup truck.
Sometimes a person will refuse to immediately obey a police officer’s orders because they are hiding something. But sometimes the person is simply stunned and confused.
I watched the video a few times. That driver was stunned and confused. And he was not a threat - he had both of his hands out the window. Bottom line, as I see it: the cop wildly over-reacted, and deserves to be fired.
billegirl14, it is obvious that if you were ever in the service, you were a punk.
Since when did second lt become the laughing stock?
You've been watching too many war movies.
Those cops were never in danger, they wanted to show this guy that they had bigger balls.
Both guns drawn, and the guys hands were out of the window, in plain sight.
You are a putz.
You left out the part where the police approached the car with guns drawn. Not necessary for a routine traffic stop.
Read the post above yours, his seatbelt was on and he didn’t want to get shot.
The cop that was fired, when suspect said he was afraid to get out of the car, responded “You should be.”
How is that a professional response? He should have been more encouraging. Instead he spewed some macho BS and escalated the issue.
little off base. it is hard to follow contradictory orders and the cop should have been better trained than to see his hands in the air and expecting him to unbuckle...
i expect you are a LEO or retired who liked the power wielded in such a stop.
yes, the officer deserved to be fired.
