Classrooms look different these days. Some are in person. Some are virtual. Some are hybrid. All in all, this is a new normal.

(Excerpt) Read more at thegrio.com ...

TOPICS: Culture/Society
KEYWORDS:
Our new normal should require us to look beyond the individual and keep in mind the trials of the collective that our students are now forced to confront.

The goal of the left laid out. Down with the individual up with the collective.

Guess the “barf” alert was too obvious. Has a somewhat socialistic ring to it.

Gloves are off. These people are not hiding or being subtle anymore. And so many people are nodding in unison and chanting “We must conform”.

I hear the phrase “New Normal” and know I am in the presence of the Thought Police a Leftist Statist.

“In this new chapter of public education, we have an opportunity to get things right and actually work together to ensure that all our students—no matter their color, creed, or ZIP code— attend equitable neighborhood public schools.”

When did the American education system get screwed up?

“In 1979 President Jimmy Carter greatly expanded federal oversight into local education by creating the Department of Education.”

This new normal must be racially just and include investments that provide our students access to art, music, dance and drama as part of their daily learning.

Despite all the money already spent on education, why can't kids read, write & do arithmetic ... maybe because you're not teaching it? The cultural stuff should not be a taxpayer burden when you can't even get the basics right.

Cecily Myart-Cruz is a teacher, activist and the United Teachers Los Angeles President. The first woman of color in the union’s 50-year history – having previously served as NEA Vice President for six years.

Any teacher that willingly belongs to a union deserves to deported to China or Cuba. Teachers must actively fight against socialism or they have no business teaching children. Their lame mantra of caring for children is absolute bull crap. They care about their bloated salaries, summer's off and grandiose pensions. That is their normal.

Thankfully MY PUBLIC SCHOOL would never allow this, as we’re in the 1% (or less) of schools that want nothing to do with this crap - otherwise, there is no way I would send my kids there.

That's half the reason. The other reason is a culture which denigrates educational achievement. Much is explained here:

A careful study of American education resulting from the 1980 Department of Education beginnings will find a steady decline in the level of education of our children. Year after year, when compared to the other so-called advanced nations of the world our students have gone down, down, down.

We had better eliminate the federal Department of Education as it is an obstacle to good education and make the local school boards resume responsibility.
