Cotton fibers in your lungs will kill you.
But you just keep on breathing them in.
Makes no difference to me.
We had our second vaccination over a month ago, and we are still alive.
With friends and families we are unmasked.
So, the only reason we wear a mask now, is when we go into a place of business requesting that we wear a mask. We put the mask on before going in, and I remove it as soon as we are outside on the sidewalk.
A friend is making her second round of cotton only masks, and we are in line for 2 each for my wife and I.
We will keep one in each vehicle. About once a week we will wash the used masks with the delicate cycle.
I haven’t gotten the shots; I have allergies.
I do the same as you, put on when entering a building that has a mask sign, and take off when exiting.
The reasons I wear a clear face shield are
1) So a hearing disabled person can read my lips.
I’m hearing disabled myself, and if I lived in California (I live in Texas), I and anyone speaking with me would be permanently exempt from wearing a mask.
I have the printout from the Calif Dept of health.
2) So I don’t get the ailments mentioned upthread, from the blue masks.

No it wasn't. It was paper disposable masks with chemicals on them. You brought up cotton masks, for some reason. There is no mention of cotton masks in the article.
Then somebody mentioned masks being 'training wheels for burkas' and it was off to the races. This is a very bizarre thread, thanks to you.
