I’ll take this opportunity to whine and complain. I’m a senior citizen, so I’m allowed to do that. You can look it up.
Anyway, the word “artist” should be reserved for those folks who paint pictures. Folks who sing songs are singers, not artists. Folks in the movies are actors, not artists. Etc.
This is not a rant against you, Kathy. It’s just an old guy’s rant in general. I’d like to say more, but there are some neighborhood kids on my lawn. So I’ve got to go yell at them.
Maybe the title changed to artist when not all of the people famous for putting out music could actually sing very well.
Hello Senior citizen,
According to Webster’s, an “artist” is: a person who creates art (such as painting, sculpture, music, or writing) using conscious skill and creative imagination. So this counts! Unless of course, you were born before 1828 which would be before Webster’s dictionary. If so, my apologies. You’re truly old and would think the word “artist” was just someone who paints. Just my humble thoughts!

Can you shoo them my way when you’re done? I’m bored and could use the lung exercise!
