The prosecution in the trial of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd has begun referring to the victim’s “neck area” rather than his “neck” after the defense pointed out that Chauvin’s knee was not on his neck throughout the entire encounter.
Chauvin’s defense attorney, Eric Nelson, citing “camera perspective bias,” elicited testimony from Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo on cross-examination in which Arradondo agreed that Chauvin had placed his knee on Floyd’s “shoulder blade” at one point.
As Legal Insurrection analyst Andrew Branca noted, the prosecution has begun referring to Floyd’s “neck area” as a result:
Nelson began displaying images of the knee placement from different angles showing Chauvin’s knee appeared to be on Floyd’s shoulders and back, rather than on Floyd’s neck. Lt. [Johnny] Mercil, the state’s expert on MPD use-of-force training and policy explicitly agreed on cross-examination that this appeared to be the case.
So what’s the state to do when a key facet of their narrative of criminal conduct is contradicted by their own expert? Move the goals posts, of course.
Today, however, Prosecutor Schleiter and his state-paid use of force expert Stiger began to avoid the claim that Chauvin’s knee was on Floyd’s neck, and instead started referring to Chauvin’s knee being on Floyd’s “neck area.”
What’s the “neck area”? Well, the shoulders and upper back!
Other elements of the prosecution’s case have been thrown into doubt on cross-examination.
Yet the media continue to report the trial as if the prosecution had made an irrefutable case. The Associated Press, for example, published its analysis under the headline: “Expert: Chauvin never took knee off Floyd’s neck area.”
Critics fear that the media’s one-sided coverage of the trial could shape public expectations in a way that would encourage outrage in the event Chauvin is not convicted.

Move the goals posts, of course.
The persecution will not rest till Just-Us is served.
[after the defense pointed out that Chauvin’s knee was not on his neck throughout the entire encounter.]
The false narrative has been set in the mind of the sheeple who are glued to CNN and MSNBC.
Might as well toss in “Russian collusion” because they’ll believe that one, too.
This defense is kicking some serious butt! Trump should have had this at the kangaroo court proceedings he endured!
Get ready for blm and anti-FA to start burning their own cities down when this is over.
Hey, let ‘em. The next day (and days and months and years) when they have to buy diapers or want a burger they will have to drive half an hour.
If you’re not reading brands and his coverage of this on legalinsurrection, you’re getting less than half of the story
Nelson has been destroying the prosecutor witnesses
Defense is scoring points, for sure. Hats off to those of you watching. I sympathize with the jurors who fell asleep the other day.
“Branca”
Damn autospell
Makes sense to me. When referring to Democrats, the area between their ears is one of their fecal areas.
“Critics fear that the media’s one-sided coverage of the trial could shape public expectations in a way that would encourage outrage in the event Chauvin is not convicted.”
There is a significant likelihood that is their intention.
Agreed. Slowly they have peace by piece destroyed or discredited almost everything the state has said, just on cross examination and they haven’t even gotten to the part of the trial yet.
“Hey, let ‘em. The next day (and days and months and years) when they have to buy diapers or want a burger they will have to drive half an hour.”
That’s the sad part. Antifa is a bunch of snotty white kids who invade. BLM, angry black racists from the ‘burbs. Both groups come in, incite mass destruction, then go home.
Which is why the media needs to be slapped down hard.
The respiratory doctor this morning was pretty tough.
Among other things the doctor said that fentanyl had nothing to do with Floyd stopping breathing.
Cross examination of the doctor begins soon. It will be interesting.
The Main area of the Mpls riots already has lost many businesses.
The damage is in the range of $500,000 & UP.
Over 80% of the employees in that area were black...so NO jobs, now, either.
for lefturd loons, when reality contradicts the narrative it is reality that has to be rejected
The defense attorney should offer a tube of Preparation-H to the respiratory doctor. He'll need it after the cross examination.
“Yet the media continue to report the trial as if the prosecution had made an irrefutable case. The Associated Press, for example, published its analysis under the headline: “Expert: Chauvin never took knee off Floyd’s neck area.””
Associated Propaganda teeing it up for the B(urn)L(oot)M(urder) gang.
Dr. Said Floyd died because of short breaths. Was he there?
A woman on the late Rush Limbaugh of Blessed Memory's show said we are allowing the Dems to destroy our cities and take away protection of citizens under the laws. And the police won't do a thing to them.
He said "Well what are we supposed to do, go down there and fight and battle against them physically? We don't do that. Not on our side."
