United will train 50% women and minority pilots
United Airlines is the only major US airline to own a flight school, and the airline is beginning to accept new applications as of today as it embarks on a plan to train 5,000 new pilots by 2030 (upon completion of the program, pilots are guaranteed a job with United).
That’s cool in and of itself, as we see how the industry expects there to be so much demand for pilots in the coming years. What’s even cooler is that United is setting a goal of having at least half of those pilots be women and people of color.
Backed by scholarship commitments from United Airlines and JP Morgan Chase, United Aviate Academy will create opportunities for thousands of students to pursue a career in commercial aviation. United has initially committed to providing $1.2 million in scholarships, while JP Morgan Chase has also committed to providing $1.2 million in scholarships. While that’s great, that ultimately won’t go that far, given how expensive flight training is.

Everyone here on FR is missing the point of this.
Many working and middle-class whites will refuse to fly over safety concerns, but it’ll be blamed on racism. That means more restrictions of people’s movement.
We are being systematically dismantled as a unified nation.
Saw the wokenista ceo last night on Tucker’s show. Hard to believe that some of the stoopidest assclowns have managed to suck their way into positions running big corps like he has. Guy is an idiot for buying into this crap. Lucky for him, he ain’t alone.
And when a series of accidents occur because of inexperienced pilots, Untied Airlines will say: “????”
This would NOT have happened with Trump in the White House, as they could have feared the well-deserved humiliation they would have received for this stunt.
Ok so a plane crashes. First question: Was the pilot black?
There are not many blacks piloting airplanes for the same reason they’re no into drag racing. They don’t have the balls.
The real reason there aren’t many blacks flying aircraft is they would have to go against the “thug culture” that is so prevalent in the community today.
Why risk being called an Uncle Tom because you have to have an education and God forbid, may actually develop conservative values. It doesn’t fit the Rev. Sharpton narrative that blacks need a hand out, not a hand up.
Besides, that would also require a black pilot to actually have a....pilot’s license...Don’t ‘cha know this ID thing is tough for minorities to acquire?
Fantastic. From now on any time there is any kind of incident, however minor, people and shysters are going to be lining up for their cut. Engine problem, causing you to return to the airport? "Oh my gosh, I was so scared, I was afraid for my life!" etc. etc. Every. Little. Thing. Will now be questioned - was this situation made worse by United's policies sacrificing safety for other goals.
For 60 years, urban police departments have been trying to hire black people to police black areas, so as to avoid the politics and optics of events like Rodney King or George Floyd. The problem is - blacks don’t apply for these jobs, or PD’s can’t find them in sufficient numbers, and when they do find them, they don’t stay.
I had not thought of that, but I’m sure you are correct. I already hate flying, because the government has made it such a miserable experience. Now we have to worry about affirmative action pilots? I’m not sure how I will get out to see my sons now. They both live too far away for this old gal to drive.

2. Mechanical malfunction.
The rate of deadly mishaps in modern airliners being flown by 3rd world pilots is many times higher than the same airliners being flown by pilots from the US... The pilots are never blamed, it is always somehow found to be the fault of the airplane and the manufacturer. It is only white male pilots from the good old USA that are found to be responsible for crashes. Ask any aviation attorney. This has been going on for decades. And the people on this forum buy into it as well... eg 737 MAX.
My brother is a captain for a major airline. When he was a flight instructor decades ago he had students from 3rd world countries who were going to be fast tracked into flying airliners. It scared the hell out of him. This is no different. I am an avaition enthusiast who started out hang gliding when I was a kid. I have known a few women and minorities who are aviation enthusiasts but not many and most have not been that into it. When you are trying to elevate people into these positions because of their sex or skin color... it is just not going to turn out well.
Here’s to female black lesbians. Biden is dying to put one on the supreme court and United is dying to put one in the cockpit...although United may have to change the name from cockpit to pit at her insistence as she has been avoiding them all her life
What’s next? Affirmative action cardiologists with surgical knives? My vote is that the Unted CEO be restricted to having an affirmative action heart surgeon operate on him on his next heart attack.
