Testimony in the trial of Derek Chauvin continued Wednesday with the former officer’s defense team arguing that George Floyd saying, “I can’t breathe,” while police attempted to load him into the squad car was a form of resisting arrest.

Although if Chauvin gets found Not Guilty, he will never feel safe anywhere.
I was an EMT in an urban area many years ago and it was not uncommon for people to suddenly have “epileptic seizures” when arrested or questioned by the police.
Meanwhile, Ashli Babbitt’s African-American executioner enjoys a normal life of anonymity.
Well the blacks DO use the phrase “I can’t breath” and laugh about it that they do....in order to get an opportunity to run away.
I have been watching portions of the George Floyd trial on court TV.
Interesting testimony today from the Crime Scene Investigator. She appeared well educated, but she ignored the pills on the console of Floyd’s Mercedes SUV in her May 2020 investigation until the Defense attorney in December 2020 asked for another look at the SUV. Turns out the pills in the SUV were laced with fentanyl.
Then in January 2021 the Defense Attorney asked the investigator to check Chauvin’s squad car again. It turns out there were pieces of pills on the floor and seat that Floyd had spit out and the pieces contained Floyd’s saliva residue. Again these pills were laced with fentanyl.
We can thank China for these fentanyl pills that are made to look like regular RX pills.
I like the defense attorney representing Chauvin all by himself. He is up against 7 Minnesota prosecutors.
Check out C-SPAN or court TV and start watching. I am predicting a hung jury or acquittal.
I didn’t exactly grow up in the nicest neighborhood and I can tell you that people getting arrested will out anything they think will help them. I can remember a guy yelling “AAAAHHH YOU’RE BREAKING MY ARM” when the cop put handcuffs on him. I’m sure cops deal with this all the time.
It turned out Floyd was ODing so he was probably having a hard time catching his breath but how would a cop know?
If you can talk you can breath.
After watching old reruns of Cops on Pluto, I notices that the “I can’t breath” ploy has been uses for at least a decade.
I remember a cop (Birk) in Seattle killing an Indian in cold blood

When the eight jurors were polled after hearing testimonies and reviewing evidence, including the dashcam and other footage, all but one said they believed that Williams posed no imminent danger when Birk fired those five shots. Just one juror believed that Williams had enough time to drop the knife before Birk pulled the trigger. Four said he did not have sufficient time; three remained undecided.
The decision was left to Dan Satterberg, the King County prosecutor, whether to charge Ian Birk with a crime. Citing state law, which required proof of evil intent on the part of the officer, Satterberg announced in mid-February 2011 that his office would not file charges against Birk. On the same day, the police department’s own Firearms Review Board announced that it had determined, unanimously, that the officer’s use of force was “unjustified.” Birk resigned that afternoon, but faced no penalties.
It could be.
But given his drug overdosing, it could be both.
juries sometimes are sympathetic to the underdog lawyer....sometimes.
RE: Chauvin’s attorney argues Floyd saying, ‘I can’t breathe,’ was a form of resisting arrest
A VERY BAD ARGUMENT. George Floyd could also really be telling the truth. A disaster of an argument in my opinion. It makes Chauvin look like a monster who doesn’t care about the medical condition of Floyd.
I can’t get past the WaPo paywall, but I believe they are paraphrasing in their own words. I doubt the attorney called it “resisting arrest” but may have called it something like behaving uncooperatively.
“I was an EMT in an urban area many years ago and it was not uncommon for people to suddenly have “epileptic seizures” when arrested or questioned by the police”.
Reminds me of the scene in The Green Mile when they were bringing “Wild Bill” into the cellblock.
WaPo is not to be believed.
When you cannot breathe, speaking or shouting is very difficult. How winded was he?
Yes, Chavin will be a dead man walking if he walks.
Yeah. I’ve said since the beginning of this that all the videos look like COPS reruns.
The FIB probably told them what to say.
Black cons have been running the “I can’t breathe.” Scam since Eric Gardner. One here in NM pulled it and managed to bolt on foot and get away. A few months later he killed an officer.
Cons do two things, lie and use violence.
Take them to the hospital and revoke their driver's license for having uncontrolled seizures. Do that a few times and word will get out to try another trick.
