The Times recently reported on the outcry following the L.A. theater community's Ovation Awards, where organizers mispronounced the name of an Asian American nominee and displayed a photo of the wrong actor.
If anyone doubts the racially based sting that comes with such insults to one's professional endeavors, just read the emails that rolled in to The Times after publication of our article. One reader said the Ovation reaction was just an example of "Asian victimhood."

Ah soo there is racism just in pronouncing a person’s name....
Maybe we are pronouncing their names correctly, but they are not.
We need to start imprisoning people who mispronounce names. It should at least be a misdemeanor.
My real name is “Smith,” but it’s pronounced “Jones.”
Most people really mangle my name.
My preferred personal pronoun is “Supreme Galactic Ruler,” but I’m constantly offended when people don’t call me that.
My last name has been mispronounced in multiple ways all my life.
I feel left out of all this racism fun.

The kid who sold fireworks in our neighborhood was named ‘Przybyla’ - nobody who wasn’t a native Pole could pronounce his name - heck, nobody could even get close.
And two of the prettiest Irish girls I ever met had the Christian names “Mairead” and “Siobhan”, which were also two of the prettiest names I ever heard - if you knew how to pronounce them correctly.
But all that was before the time when people made a career of finding every way they could of being offended.

It is funny to hear them call out:
“Elvis party of 4 your table is ready”
“Hungry party of 3...”
“Drinking party of 2...”
etc.

So, by that rationale, an asian american who mispronounces a Polish person’s name that has 5 consonants in a row is racist?
We have reached a stage where is it now cool to be an ethnic victim. We get to march in the streets about our ethnic narcissism and bask in the glow of our invented victimhood. And we have the media to promote it for us.

Society seems to have inertia and momentum with repeat to certain errors and misconceptions. Kinda scary actually.
So many football players with beat-uppable names. They must have gotten very tough very early.
