TAIPEI, Taiwan—The Chinese communist regime is accelerating its plans to invade Taiwan, an expert warns, as Beijing ratchets up military maneuvers against the island.
Twenty Chinese military aircraft—including four nuclear-capable H-6K bombers, 10 J-16 fighter jets, two Y-8 anti-submarine warfare aircraft, and a KJ-500 airborne early warning and control aircraft—entered Taiwan’s air defense identification zone (ADIZ) on March 26, according to Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense. It was the largest incursion ever reported by the ministry.
Taiwan’s ADIZ, located adjacent to the island’s territorial airspace, is an area where incoming planes must identify themselves to the island’s air traffic controller.

China can easily destroy Taiwan.
But invasion is beyond their capability.
Losing Taiwan would be a huge strategic loss - we could kiss our free access to shipping lanes goodbye. "Submit or starve" are not good options.
The Butchers of Beijing know they have nothing to fear from Feels Up/heels Up.
No doubt the Rats would be on the side of China.
And Vice Versa.
Taiwan has a decent batch of F-16s. US air defense missiles, soon to be upgraded to Patriot PAC-3.
Okinawa is but 400 miles away allowing US F-35s, F-22s and F-15s to get there quickly and then loiter.
And they have a little navy that can bite.
90 miles of open ocean is a challenge for China to move ENOUGH men and equipment to “invade” Taiwan. Especially against determined opposition.
I was actually seriously leaning towards a Chinese invasion of Taiwan on #notmypresident’s inauguration, but alas, I felt like RW Noone (author of 5/5/2000) the day after.
Once they got there, they would be faced with a million men with rifles.

Admittedly, sheer numbers and proximity will crush Taiwan. I do see a limited Taiwan guerilla campaign costing the Chinese serious numbers.
China considers the very land in the U.S. to be rightfully theirs.
Check out this speech given by China's former Minister of Defense Chi Haotian to high-level Communist Party Cadres sometime before his retirement in 2003.

Somehow, some way, China would have to move a large ground army across that 90 miles of ocean.
At least 500,000 men and their equipment.
That’s a major lift. One I don’t believe they are capable of.
The Chinese have been staging and building up for a long time.
The real issue is they probably do not yet have enough landing craft, but your right.
