Ammo Company Addresses Rumors About the Ongoing Ammo Shortage(update)

All across the country, millions of Americans are on the hunt for ammunition, either for self-defense, target practice, shooting sports or hunting. Sporting goods stores and small mom and pop businesses have had to severely limit how many rounds of ammo a person can buy at one time. Some have even gone so far as to limit ammo solely to those who are purchasing a new firearm because of the shortage.

Rumors have swirled about various companies and their ammo production. Some believed Vista Outdoors, the parent company of Federal, Remington, CCI, and Speer Ammunition, ceased manufacturing all together while others have insisted the company is picking and choosing who to sell ammo true. It was an issue Vista Outdoors' President of Ammunition, Jason Vanderbrink, addressed back in December.

Steve and Jason Hornady, owners of Hornady Ammunition released an update on ammo production. The pair used April Fool's Day to troll gun owners and squash the notion that the government is paying them to seize the production of ammo.

"So, the government might be sending you a stimulus check but they are not paying us to not ship ammo," they said with a laugh. "It just doesn't work that way."

Friends are coming over later in the week. One of them suggested we go to a range. So I looked to see the nearest ranges and what their hours were, social distance rules etc.
Big banner on the front of the website says “we only have .40 Cal and .45 Cal in stock” and “we have no 9mm, .38mm, shotgun shells” etc - a big list of what they do not have available for purchase at the range.

And I’m assuming these are all reloads.

Basically it’s bring your own ammo.

We are now 6 months (or more) into the shortage. Ammo can be found online if you are willing to pay 3x or more than normal, plus shipping.

Iv’e heard all the various reasons that ammo is scarce and I realize that like the earlier run on toilette paper there are going to be those profiteer jerks that will buy up all they can, then sell at ridiculous prices.

What doesn’t make sense to me is that all calibers seem to be sold out.
Some ammo like 9mm, 45acp even the older .38 special are among the most owned calibers in the USA, if not the world.

But when you star seeing the .32’s, 327 mag,8mm nambu, 38/45, 41 colt,44 special, 44-40, 44 russian....etc...
and lots of others - sold out- you begin to wonder if
there’s a reason that’s different from all the past shortages ?
And if like the companies state, they are working around the clock to turn out new ammo, where is all this “new ammo” going ?

This is all just a test. American companies cannot supply the demand when Americans only think they need ammo.
When we really need it, it won’t be there.
We are being “probed”, for weaknesses.
I’m an Occam’s razor sort of guy and not a conspiracy nut, but this is very obvious as it occurs every time a Democrat
government takes over.

I used to plink a hundred or more rounds at a time (depending on caliber - .308 was more like 20 rounds) at the range. To replace that is at least one box. But I knew I could replace it. Now, I can't replace what I plink. Even reloading supplies are scarce with primers being the number-one choke-point. What used to be $31-35 per brick of 1,000 18 months ago is now over $150 per brick, if you can find it. I can't find any locally. So if I do find ammo, I'm going to buy more than I'd normally use in one trip because it may not be there next time. I won't take it all, but instead of just one box, I may buy two. Next person does the same, and it becomes exponential.

Obama was busy militarizing dozens of federal civilian agencies. This including buying up tons and tons more ammo to shoot at American citizens

perhaps that storehouse of ammo can now be released to the regular civilian market from which it was syphoned

SO....I would suggest buying whatever supply you can possibly use in the next couple years, including especially for defensive purposes against
1. SorozNazi SS/SA type domestic armies
2. SorozNazi funded Burgle Loot and Murder gang attacks
and “riots”
3. regular criminals, burglars, etc., and
4. to help your community, local defense militias

if some of it costs 2 or 3x normal price, just buy what you can but do NOT go without! these times are just too damned dangerous to be without meaningful defenses to at least give yourself a chance

Let’s say I’m company V. I have N,000 small pistol primers because the components to make them are also not running at demand.

If I have to also make bullets and set up production lines, and demand is crazy, I’m going to put most of my eggs into the most popular small pistol calibers (9, 9, 9, 9, and then maybe 40) before 380 or 32 or 25 or whatever.

This way I can satisfy the most distributors (and make the best $ while I can, before the shortage ends and prices plunge).
