When will it be safe to shop at a grocery store or show up at the office without wearing a mask? Sooner than most experts are willing to admit. If the coronavirus epidemic in the U.S. continues on its current trajectory, the need for masks outside particular local outbreak areas will pass in a matter of weeks.
One way to think about the problem is by analogy to seasonal influenza. Hardly anybody wears a mask in ordinary settings to protect against the flu, and no one is required to do so. The worst flu seasons of recent years saw an average of 220 deaths a day nationwide. The seven-day moving average for Covid-19 daily deaths hovers around 900, still considerably worse. But that’s a 78% reduction since January, and the trends are favorable almost everywhere in the country. When the 14-day rolling average of daily Covid deaths has come down below flu level, which may happen within the next month or two, we should adjust our thinking about the coronavirus accordingly.

What mask?
Governors, End the mask mandates on Memorial Day!
Today I was in an indoor shop—I was the only customer and 2 employees. We were talking and it was revealed we all had had at least one vaccine. I suggested we all remove our masks. We did. 😀
Fallacy, “Keep wearing your damn masks and never remove them!”
Truth? It was never about “truth.” Never let the truth get in the way of the agenda.
Many people would be more compliant if there were a clearly announced “exit strategy”.
As it is, the strategy appears to be “MASKS FOREVER”.
And the vaunted “science” says, “once vaccinated, incapable of spreading—no ‘need’ to mask”.
I haven’t bothered to wear a mask while in the presence of other blue collar men in shops, at my place, etc. When indoors, most of them work in larger spaces with few people. Besides, most of them live with families. They were more likely to have already had the virus and recovered.
The reward is always just a little further out than right now. Just beyond your reach.
This approach has been used by the governors of the blue states and still is ever since the "two weeks to flatten the curve" a year ago.
Fauci is full of crap if he thinks the virus knows the difference between today and 8 weeks from the today. Why not just announce tomorrow that masks are not required anymore?
What's with the arbitrary Memorial Day date to not have to wear masks anymore? Anybody want to bet that Memorial Day will get close and they'll push it out until 4th of July or Labor Day?
Folks, Fauci is making this stuff up off the seat of his pants.
What I'd like to see is Fauci wearing so many masks that we can't hear the bullshit coming out of his mouth.
Give us liberty or death!
Last week in Bakersfield I walked into a 7/11 and clerk didn’t have a mask on and I for got mine in the car, over the weekend I drove to Oregon and in nocal one place clerk had no mask on.
It is apparent that Doctor Fauci was sent to save all of us with the Face Mask. It is appropriate that Doctor Fauci appears on all of the talk shows on Easter Sunday Morning to instruct us how to live.
We can only be saved by Doctor Fauci and the Face Mask.
I haven’t worn a mask and I’m still alive
pssst- texas, florida, and several other states have already uncovered and they are fine-
Hey! You little scumbag. I don’t need your “permission” to live my life. Go F yourself.
Then they should just stay TF away from me.
No mask, no vax, I’m scary.
Run away.
:D
I’ve kept my super friendly Dobe boy home almost the whole year because frankly, I don’t trust the Branch Covidians around him, crazy as they are.
Took him out last week and he spent most of the time standing and staring at the people with no faces.
When all a protective dog sees is eyes staring at him with no facial expressions to read, it can get squirrely.
Even a dog knows these people are not right in the head.
His birthday is coming up in 13 days and I ‘m not sure what to do.
He *always* gets his birthday day out but he is not comfortable around the Faceless Ones.
His not-so-friendly half-sister spent her 8th birthday at home, 3/28, because I think she would have interpreted the “unreadable stares” quite aggressively.
My dog-hauling car is broken again and we can’t afford someone to diagnose and fix it so I reckon the point is moot.
:(
