Georgia House Votes To Strip Delta Of $35 Million Tax Credit For Flipping On Election Law Support

The Georgia state House passed an amendment Wednesday that would strip Delta Air Lines of a multimillion-dollar tax break after the company blasted the state’s new election laws.

Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed into law last week a bill overhauling his state’s election procedures designed to increase security and address issues that surrounded the 2020 election. Delta initially supported key measures of the legislation after it was signed, then backtracked days later amid calls for boycotts pushed by left-wing publications.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian said the new election law “does not match Delta’s values.” Republicans in the state House, angered by Bastian’s sudden flip on the election overhaul, hit back at the company by voting to strip it of a jet fuel tax break worth over $35 million a year, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

This is beautiful. When does a circuit court overturn Georgia GOPs move against Delta?

” That bad hand was in the form of uninformed corporate officers, who are really children who have not done their homework. Common nowadays.”

It happens too much to be due to uninformed people. I think it’s more just taking what they thought was the path of least resistance...which was to piss off conservatives (piss off liberals and cities burn...same as with the Supreme Court ruling that Texas ‘didn’t have standing’ in their election case). What likely happened is that a lot of their ‘local workers’ in Atlanta were demanding that they make a statement (probably organized by the Democrats).

I suspect they were so fearless of the GOP that they didn’t think there was any risk in what they did...maybe they and other companies will learn to not piss off the people who are hosting you, as they can also make life very difficult.

What’s the punishment? Did they fine Delta, or something, for their speech?

Read the thread. FReepers are applauding the action because it hurts Delta.

There you go. Strip every company of all of these perks if they want to play games and go with lying narratives to appease the woke Left and the dishonest media.

Now go after Coca-Cola. Can’t imagine they don’t get a tax-break.

Don’t think you should support businesses that publicly support vote fraud.

Delta is not entitled to those tax breaks and the state is not obligated to provide them.

What about Delta’s free speech rights?

Karl Marx had free speech too it’s all about what one says in a speech that matters to the public safety.

And this is how Democrats play the game. It's long past time we taught "Woke" corporations that they will get bitchslapped if they defy us.

Do you think Delta management surveyed its employees to see how they felt or just made a unilateral decision after consulting with a few connected wokesters?

So the Delta CEO could have said that he was personally against it. Instead he used the muscle of a giant corporation to try and intimidate the legislature. That's not free speech. It's strongarm extortion.

They also have a right to stay out it and that’s what they should have did. It’s okay if they want to sell their product, but don’t tell us how to vote.

“I think the establishment wants its stronghold, but doesn’t want Trump or Trumpers in the GOP.”

Clearly the case, and I’ll take it further by saying that I wouldn’t be surprised if the GOP colluded with Democrats to get rid of Trump...with the promise that things would then go ‘back to normal’ with Trump gone.

Well, things didn’t go back to normal, and that’s because the GOP, I guess, is CLUELESS with the type of people they cut this deal with. So now the GOP is getting angry as the base won’t come home to the Uniparty and the Democrats have no interest in keeping their (secret) promises to the GOP.

Nonsense; Atlanta is a hub bc it makes business sense; let Delta move their hub elsewhere and a new airline will move into Atlanta. Good for the Georgia Legislature; we finally have some people fighting back and the Left and their bootlicking corporate types cannot take it.
