Wisconsin Supreme Court strikes down statewide mask mandate

MADISON, WI - Wisconsin's Supreme Court is striking down Gov. Tony Evers' statewide face mask mandate.

Continuing Coverage: Coronavirus in Wisconsin

The 4-3 ruling was issued in a 78-page decision Wednesday morning.

Republican lawmakers filed suit in October on the mandate.

They said the governor did not have the authority to extend the state's public health emergency beyond 60 days without approval from the legislature.

Wisconsin's current mask mandate is set to expire Monday after Evers signed a new emergency order Feb. 4.

That came hours after the Republican-controlled Assembly voted to repeal a previous order that included a statewide mask mandate.

The court's decision does not affect any local mandates that remain in place.

Evers said a decision on whether not to extend the current mask mandate will be made at the last minute.

My money is on Gov. Evers (Douche, WI) extending the mask mandate past Monday.

He’s such a weasel.

Evers is in via voter fraud. I’m convinced of it. Of course, Madison and Milwaukee don’t help.

Of course. I saw that late night vote dump in 2018 here, just like 2020 and what they are planning for 2022 for Johnson’s race as well as Evers reelection, and the 1st and 8th Congressional districts. If we do get a Republican Governor in 2022, expect another recall in 2024.

Good start.

The thing to seriously consider is to strike down anyone who makes such a mandate.

I’ll leave the actual implementation of what “strike down” means to we the people, NOT those idiots who are so stupid that all they can do is be DemocRAT politicians.

I've been seeing that sentiment starting to pop up on social media.

You can be sure the Feds are monitoring it too.
I bet what has some of them concerned is how many are thinking the same thing but not posting it.

Hey, Wisconsin, don’t wait for Evers to make a decision “at the last minute”.

The court has struck down the governor’s mask mandate .

You can take your mask off TODAY.

Do it.

Good! Evers never should have been allowed to issue the second emergency order in the first place.

My son is visiting from another large metro area this week. he went to a shop in Delafield yesterday and was pleasantly surprised that NOBODY in there was masked. The mask mandate has been ignored outside of MKE and Madison for months.

Yes, ignored is right. The only place I have to wear one is at Menard’s, and any old thing somewhere near the mouth will do unless one of the clerks is on a power trip.

The generic AP article cracks me up.

"Nearly 60 organizations opposed repeal of the mask mandate, including groups representing hospitals, doctors, nurses, EMTs, school administrators, businesses, children, unions, Milwaukee schools, American Indian tribes, pharmacists, firefighters, local health departments, senior citizens, churches and dentists."

Senior citizends and dentists!

Here are the two sides of the ruling. Tell me again about the rule of law. . .

"Nobody’s questioning the governor’s sincerity in trying to do what he thinks is right here," Hagedorn said then. "But he can only do what the power he’s been given to do."

versus

“This is no run-of-the-mill case,” she wrote. “We are in the midst of a worldwide pandemic that so far has claimed the lives of over a half million people in this country. And with the stakes so high, the majority not only arrives at erroneous conclusions, but it also obscures the consequence of its decision. Unfortunately, the ultimate consequence of the majority’s decision is that it places yet another roadblock to an effective governmental response to COVID-19.”

“...it places yet another roadblock to an effective governmental response to COVID-19.”

We The People dropped the ball on placing up ROADBLOCKS to our Socialist Governors.

However, it’s hard to do when your own Republican representatives in the various states sat on their hands for so long!

We The People should’ve been digging trenches, stringing Concertina Wire and putting up our OWN roadblocks. Not much else would’ve helped in the absolute TRASHING of our FREEDOMS and our state Economies. :(

If their high court said no to the mask mandate, how can the Guv extend it? He’ll ignore the court?
