The man busted for the hate-fueled attack on an Asian woman in Midtown was out on parole for killing his own mother back in 2002, authorities said Wednesday.
Brandon Elliot, 38, who lives in a nearby hotel that serves as a homeless shelter, was arrested early Wednesday and hit with a number of charges, including assault as a hate crime and attempted assault as a hate crime, police said.

It was hard to watch, but how many people would have jumped into the middle of that? You don’t know if the guy has a knife a gun or is just really strong - if NYC doesn’t want to pay cops to arrest bad people, why should citizens jump in?
Had the govt done its job, the guy would still be in jail.

Most rent a cops have no interest in conflict. Years ago I caught a “Black” guy red handed walking out my office door with my fax machine in his hands and the building security guy didn’t want to call the cops. He never did.

I have no reason to criticize them. In today’s climate of disarmed peasants and race-based politics and legal proceedings, they had every reason to walk away from the situation.
