Americans struggling to survive on federal benefits have waited weeks for word on their share of the $1.9 trillion stimulus.
Some of the country’s most vulnerable citizens have been waiting weeks for the next round of promised financial aid from President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion “American Rescue Plan” coronavirus relief package, with no indication of when it would come. Chief among those are the millions of elderly Americans who depend on federal assistance to survive.
As of March 24, nearly 30 million had yet to receive their portion, largely because the Social Security Administration had “not sent the necessary payment files” to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Despite a March 12 assurance the money would be delivered “shortly,” weeks passed before the IRS had access to the necessary information to follow through.
“To me, ‘shortly’ is two to three days, not two weeks,” 65-year-old Floridian retiree Mark Stevens said. “People in my situation are feeling lied to.” In a March 22 letter from the House Ways and Means Committee, they highlighted the dire position of veterans, seniors, and disabled Americans.
“Some of our most vulnerable seniors and persons with disabilities, including veterans who served our country with honor, are unable to pay for basic necessities while they wait for their overdue payments.”
The committee pressured the IRS and SSA for information as to the delay, according to a spokesperson. After a March 25 statement by SSA Commissioner Andrew Saul claiming the issue was a lack of staff funding, the committee publicly expressed their skepticism.

I just read an article that said the SSA sent all the wrong information to the IRS that’s why everything is screwed up !
If you are relying on social security every month, your check kept coming, Any stimulus would be a bonus, not anything you need if you are living in your means,
I agree my Social security has arrived each month,on time. Covid has NOT affected me financially in any way. Why are we borrowing from my grandchildren to give me money I will accept but do not need. The wheels are falling off I tell you!

Biden stimulus also added very strict Unemployment Insurance identity verification requirements through, through a 3rd party. I’m guessing they are big donors to the Democrat Party.

Let’s see how long it takes them to tie in mandatory covid vaccinations to the list of things needed to collect unemployment.
You forget that over the last year or so, prices of EVERYTHING has gone up! The tiny raise that SS gave us for this year, does in no way keep up with the rate of inflation. This “stimulus” money is much needed by seniors who are having to go without due to the higher cost of everything.

They effing owe me as I’m now totally unemployable.
There are many that receive Social Security while they continue to work or run a business.
Just as there are many who receive pension plan payments while continuing to work or run a business.
I don’t think $1,400 bucks is going to do much to improve your life

Being unemployed since March 2020 and having to deal with the complete fuster cluck of the Colorado Unemployment System ( they outsourced programming it to India) with no benefits were given from November to February in most cases, you bet the $1400 helped.
There, after a year, are no jobs in much of the white collar entertainment, sports, travel, tourism, events or other areas. That segment of the country remains shut down hard.
There are no effing jobs other than minimum wage starter jobs or blue-collar muscle jobs in Colorado (Amazon warehouses are a popular option). Something this 55-year old working his whole life in white-collar office work can’t do.
I didn’t say it wouldn’t help anybody I said it wouldn’t help a moron like Mark.

It’s rather amusing to see folks taking citizens to task for
desiring an Economic Stimulus Payment. That’s what they are
calling it. These payments ARE NOT simply replacing funds
folks lost. They are intended to spur the economy. And with
that in mind, why shouldn’t people on SS get it?
I believe the money going to citizens in that bill amounts to
about 1/6th the total package, so it’s not like the citizens
are the reason we’re going so far into debt.
Frankly, I would have been just fine without getting the payment.
I’m not happy we’re adding so much debt. I do recognize that
the $1.9 bill is filled with an amazing amount of pork and
special interest payments.
Look at the cities and states that have been bailed out.
Most of them are Leftist hell holes, that can’t manage their
budget at all.
So here we are bailing them out.
They’re already talking about a fourth payment, and in this
one they are talking about reoccurring monthly payments.
You can bet your ass, Illegals will be getting in on it.
