FEMA said the COVID-19 funeral assistance program will be implemented starting in April and applications will be accepted at that time. They are currently working to establish a phone number where applications can be filed. To qualify, applicants must meet certain conditions.
In the meantime before applications are accepted, people with COVID-19 funeral expenses are encouraged to gather and keep documentation, FEMA said. Additional guidance will be released to potential applicants and community partners once finalized.
Assistance is limited to a maximum of $9,000 per funeral and a maximum of $35,500 per application per state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
Additional information is available on the FEMA website.

A day in the life of Doug Gaines...

good man. God Bless Douglas Keith Gaines. R.I.P., sir. love
Just another ruse to further incentivize claiming death by COVID.
My parents were moderately wealthy. They both specifically requested no funerals. They wanted to be disposed of in the cheapest manner so that the money would go to us and not the funeral industry. Any government legislation like this is rent seeking on the part of that industry. Anything subsidized will be used more.
So, who has the biggest, most expensive funerals? Mafia dons and politicians and probably movie stars. Who has the cheapest? The black funeral home in Tallahassee was started by a white man and his family, which, by the way was half black, profited hugely. Black income in the early twentieth century was a tiny fraction of whites, but they had the most elaborate funerals they could afford. Not saying the white funeral homes were hurting, but the social need for large funerals has greatly reduced over even my lifetime. I recall attending a few fairly small services in the sixties, but since then I have been to no funerals at all.
When I saw the headline, I thought: “another good one from the Babylon Bee”
Looks like a Federal Incentive Program to kill people with covid so the survivors can collect funeral money.
Next years news headline: Murder Rate in USA Skyrockets
Anyone, regardless of income, is eligible for this?
From my parents on down, we all agreed that cremation is the way to go. Dust to dust.
I really wish I had the ability and the nerve to scam the government out of money.
Yep.
Yep
This should bring out the Nigerian and Russian scammers, same as the unemployment giveaways.
Beware of Scams
FEMA’s Funeral Assistance Program has controls in place to mitigate fraudulent activity. FEMA will not contact anyone until they have called FEMA or have applied for assistance. Do not disclose information such as the name, birth date or social security number of any deceased family member to any unsolicited telephone calls or e-mails from anyone claiming to be a federal employee or from FEMA.
If you doubt a FEMA representative is legitimate, hang up and report it to the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 or the National Center for Fraud Hotline at 866-720-5721. Complaints also may be made by contacting local law enforcement agencies.
Seems like a combo new “claim Covid” payoff for families to go along with calling most deaths Covid, cum reparations—given the number of minorities reportedly dying of the disease.
DOA - blunt trauma injuries
OOooh! You've been our family doctor for years!
But now I'm outta work and have no insurance! How will I pay for a funeral??
Oh, wrong paperwork. She actually died of COVID.
SURE!!
WE can’t discriminate, can we?
Sure, why not; It isn’t their money. It is the taxpayer’s money, and the future generations money paid through hyperinflationary fiat.
GREAT POINT!!!
I was stationed with the son of a very large funeral interest down south and after the service he was going to go back to it. He explained everything to us which was basically - keep it simple because every item above the base level of code is just buff and polish... and it all does the same thing equally well (code). It alls boils down to the cost for the fluff. Which is massive.
Was the funding for this assigned to FEMA in one of the Covid-19 “stimulus” bills that Congress passed, or did FEMA just pull this out of their own regulations.
One could ask if Congress did pass a bill providing the funding for this, why? Well, because Congress does whatever they want when it comes to spending others money.
