[60 Minutes]What happened in Wuhan? Why questions still linger on the origin of the coronavirus
CBS 60 Minutes ^ | 28 Mar 2021 | Lesley Stahl

A lack of transparency from Chinese officials and looming geopolitical consequences have damaged the credibility of a WHO-led inquiry into how the virus that causes COVID-19 originated. Lesley Stahl reports.

The question: how did SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, originate? Among the leading theories examined: was it accidentally leaked from a lab in Wuhan or did it come from infected animals in a wet market there?

The WHO inquiry was far from comprehensive, because, as it has done since the beginning of the outbreak, the Chinese government withheld information.

Jamie Metzl: I wouldn't really call what's happened now an investigation. It's essentially a highly-chaperoned, highly-curated study tour."

Lesley Stahl: Study tour?

Jamie Metzl: Study tour. Everybody around the world is imagining this is some kind of full investigation. It's not. This group of experts only saw what the Chinese government wanted them to see.

...Peter Daszak, a member of the WHO team, and an expert on how animal viruses jump to humans, has worked on previous viral outbreaks, including in China.

He says the pathway leads not to the lab in Wuhan but from wildlife farms in southern China directly to the wet market in Wuhan, the Huanan Seafood Market...Those animals were coming into the market from farms over 1,000 miles away. ...

full transcript and an approx 14 minute video segment at link

as the narrative to draw attention away from the Lab and back to 'it's the wildlife farmers fault' continues to be spun by the China-beholding MSM

in the meantime a few hours ago, we had two competing headlines First, this CBS FAuci headline: "Fauci warns against potential new COVID-19 surge as cases remain high"

Matched at the same time by this USAToday headline: "Fauci says summer could bring eased restrictions"

as both he and Blix go on record blaming Trump for the 'second wave' deaths, while ignoring the treatments developed during the first wave, thanks to Trump, that mitigated the second wave. And also ignoring the deaths since the election when the FAuci/Biden team assumed responsibility. Part of the new push to absolve Chna and point the finger at the US govt, specifically Trump, as responsible for the deaths instead of China, rumored to have known about CCPVirus since now, September. Whether this will lead to a push for "reparative justice" for 'disadvantaged' deaths only time will tell. But it's a completely dishonest narrative that is headed in that direction.

Fauci’s NIAIID funded the gain of function research that led to this pandemic. It was a really bad idea to allow this research to be done, worse to approve doing it with taxpayer dollars, and worse yet to send some of that funding to Wuhan - which they did. If instead they were funding projects to target multiple aspects of coronavirus biology in order to find ways to inactivate it or attenuate its ability to replicate, we may already have directed therapies to treat any type of coronavirus infection.

Former CDC Chief said that the virus came out of the lab in Wuhan. He didn’t say if it was accidential or intentional.

It is absolutely maddening that China impacted so many lives, and hobbled the global economy, and nothing will happen to them! In fact, they are more or less back to normal - while the rest of the world struggles with the direct and indirect effects of COVID.

Yet nothing will happen to China.

Russia tries to murder a political rival to Putin’s evil ways -> results in sanctions.

Saudi Arabia saws a journalist who has been a thorn to that murderous regime’s side -> results in the threat of sanctions.

China unleashes a virus that has affected millions directly and hundreds of millions/maybe even billions through the effect on the economy -> nothing.

And it’s not a Democrat vs Republican thing ...the only reason the Republicans were tougher was because of one person who answers to PDJT. Without Trump even the Republicans would have been kissing China’s behind.

Anyway, nothing happens to China. They hamstring all the major economies of the world with hardly a real effect on their own economy, and life goes on. China is this much closer to becoming the leading economy, and country, in the world.

Maddening.

They are the world's leading economy now, with all the momentum on their side. The Americans have shot ourselves with our lockdowns. Fortunately the red states are quicker to recover but that won't matter for long because we have socialists in complete control of the government now.

A manmade virus escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, that’s what happened.

The WHO is blaming china for their failed investigation. Why dont they release the numbers of air travelers from the region. I have seen them.
Even after all this time with china advancing on multiple fronts, it was a natural jump.

democrats looking to push harris to the top slot might be pushing to out the wuhan information to get rid of biden.

biden was 0bama’s vp when the program was authorized and paid for by the 0bama administration. producing bio weapons (otherwise known as WMDs) is illegal which is why they produced it in china. it’s also stupid since china ends up controlling the WMD which could (and did) come back to bite us in the a**

don’t get me wrong, the harris crew is just as evil... but they’re the unknown/new evil attempting to take out the old evil.

The desk of anthony fauci is the origin. He illegally funded its development.

The FACT that China refuses to fully cooperate and reveal ALL the details should be an obvious indication to everyone that they’re to blame

Innocent parties don’t have anything to hide

China is effectively admitting its guilt thru its non-cooperative actions

Actions speak louder than words!
