Prior years this would have angered me. Now I’m all for it because I want the liberal cities to suffer. I don’t want to be a counter balance to their madness anymore. Go ahead and defund the cops 100% New York. You too Chicago. Don’t get left out Portland!
The good people caught in Sodom need to move. It is a lost cause to stay and only allows a rotten ideology to survive on their backs.
listen all you N.Y. City cops, here in Florida we can use a few more good cops and we respect and welcome you all down here.
So come on down.
But after all this the police still dutifully act as street muscle for the scum that are tormenting them. Don’t let them catch you enjoying a fine cigar on a deserted beach.
What's gonna happen when residents of Central Park West find that their condos and co-ops have lost 50% of their value...and that their taxes have gone up 20%?
“This will flush the police departments of good cops, driving them to retire or move, and once that is done the communists will install their own thugs in the NYPD, making politicians even bolder when it comes to stripping you of liberties.”
...and, at that point, qualified immunity will be back.
Ridiculous decision by NYC/NYPD. This will not end well.
It’s been coming for a while. A friend spent the past 3 years trying to unload his parents Central Park apartment that was valued at $14 mil. No takers at any price. Finally the building operators bought it for $7 mil, 50% of assessed value in a “not arms length” deal. My SIL is a partner in a large world wide property management company based in lower Manhattan. Property is absolutely tanking, leases not being paid and being broken at an astounding rate. This will lead to a massive crisis.
Read later.
Black criminals think they have a right to resist arrest thus endangering the police officer and violating his basic civil right to a safe work place
Resisters violate OSHA safety regulations and thus forfeit all rights
Every officer will have to get insurance (which police liability insurance is expensive already and assuredly will rise after this). Even after cutting the budget, NYC will have to drastically raise their pay so police can cover the insurance prices.
In my Law class we had to conference with the ACLU, which advocated for this very thing. Basically all they wanted was a way to make more money in lawsuits. That’s all this is about: the ACLU, NAACP, and any other groups funneling money from taxpayers.
The ones that need to have immunity stripped from is parole board, city councils, judges, psychologists.
Residential properties HERE are skyrocketing. Properties that have languished for years on the market now are selling over asking with multiple offers. New York and Conn plates are outnumbering VT plates. I’d be long gone at this point but I’m trapped for a few more years.
We justifiably criticize silliness like this and cling to the notion that “they voted for it” so let them wallow in it.
Sadly, the world does not work like that. All of us will suffer from the lack of revenue and chaos that ensues. Don’t believe me? Read the “stimulus” bill. Our “congress” took our money to bail out cities/states that made poor choices.
That is our future. They elect people who implement crazy policies and bankrupt themselves in NYC and taxpayers in Wyoming and Idaho will be on the hook for the borrowed money used to fund these non-sustainable policies.
The founders wanted each entity to be its own experiment in self-governance. In reality, we are all stuck on the good ship Lollipop together with Uncle Sugar applying bandaids.
They’ll just hire social contact persons to take care of domestic disputes; have traffic wardens like they do in the UK and Australia - badged and uniformed people handing out traffic tickets and other citations like littering and such. (thinking they’re cops as well).
Escape From New York.
Totally agree.
destroy existing force so can be replaced with “new and improved” SJW force.
Gobs of money, total immunity and do the bidding of the commies.
Commie control of police force.
The issue is never the issue....
How low is New York City going to have to scrape the barrel to get someone desperate enough for that job?
Was the intent of this program to chase out officers to avoid having them work until retirement and collect their pension?
Forget insurance, regardless of who pays for it; it's easy to be deemed uninsurable or get saddled with rates that no employer will pay.
New York City politicians are going to side with criminals since the city won't pay the bill, the city can use the lawsuits to get rid of cops, and it's politically more expedient to side with local criminals and their families than it is side with commuting cops who vote somewhere else.
Why stop at police? Why not strip immunity from the mayor, council members, judges, jailers, and the parole board?
