A black man who was paralyzed after he was shot in the back by a white police officer in southeastern Wisconsin filed a civil lawsuit Thursday accusing the officer of excessive force.
Jacob Blake Jr was shot by Kenosha Officer Rusten Sheskey in August while Blake was about to get into an SUV during a domestic dispute. Blake's federal complaint against Sheskey, the only defendant, is seeking unspecified damages.
The shooting of Blake, captured on bystander video, turned the nation's spotlight on Wisconsin during a summer marked by protests over police brutality and racism.

The individual shot can be clearly seen ignoring the police officer’s instructions to stop. Blake is clearly resisting arrest.
Blake is getting into his vehicle which as far as the police know could have a readily accessible firearm.
It was at that point inevitable that he was going to be shot.
If he had kept running down the road he would have had a chance of not getting shot. He may have only been tackled.
Yes. I remember the video from that scene and do agree. It appeared that he had a knife while running around the front of the vehicle to the driver’s side. It also appeared that he might have been trying to get a weapon from the vehicle.
Many police have been shot by criminals making that kind of move—very close and very fast. Most people don’t know that many criminals have taught each other—oftentimes in prison—how to carry out such maneuvers (”convict college”).

He had a knife, claimed he had a gun in his vehicle and fought with officers. After breaking free he was busy trying to get into his car where he stated he had a gun. A lot is left out of the story!
