The individual shot can be clearly seen ignoring the police officer’s instructions to stop. Blake is clearly resisting arrest.
Blake is getting into his vehicle which as far as the police know could have a readily accessible firearm.
It was at that point inevitable that he was going to be shot.
If he had kept running down the road he would have had a chance of not getting shot. He may have only been tackled.
Yes. I remember the video from that scene and do agree. It appeared that he had a knife while running around the front of the vehicle to the driver’s side. It also appeared that he might have been trying to get a weapon from the vehicle.
Many police have been shot by criminals making that kind of move—very close and very fast. Most people don’t know that many criminals have taught each other—oftentimes in prison—how to carry out such maneuvers (”convict college”).
