Scalise grills Dorsey: blocked NY Post Hunter Biden laptop story; says Twitter 'acting as publisher' Facebook

Big Tech deciding what is factually accurate is a 'really bad idea': Alex Berenson, former New York Times reporter and ‘Tell Your Children’ author weighs in on Thursday’s congressional hearing with Big Tech CEOs, protections for tech giants and online censorship.

House Republican Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., pressed Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on the company's decision to block an October NY Post article about Pres Biden's son, Hunter Biden, during a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing.

Dorsey has repeatedly said that Twitter changed its "Hacked Materials Policy" blocking articles that base information on "hacked," or stolen, information after its decision to stop distribution of the Hunter Biden article and lock the Post's account drew significant outrage from readers, especially on the right.

"We made a total mistake with The New York Post. We corrected it within 24 hours," Dorsey said during the hearing in response to a question from Scalise about concerns from conservative users about a political bias on Twitter. "It was not to do with the content. It was to do with the Hacked Materials Policy."

It was to do with the Hacked Materials Policy." He added that Twitter "will make mistakes," and the company's "goal is to correct them as soon as possible."

Scalise then pointed out that while the company changed its Hacked Materials Policy in October to start labeling content that violates its rules rather than remove it altogether after the Post debacle, Twitter still locked the newspaper out of its account for weeks after the initial violation because it would not delete tweets that Twitter initially said violated its rules, prompting the lockout. The Post refused to delete and repost the tweets, so Twitter manually "corrected it for them" in order to reinstate the account, Dorsey said.

Scalise added that Twitter was "acting as a publisher" in asking a newspaper to delete posts in order to regain access to its account. Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act, which both Democratic and Republican lawmakers say needs to be updated, states that "no provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider." "It was literally just a process error," Dorsey said. "This was not against them in any particular way."

Dorsey testified alongside Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Thursday during a hearing on misinformation -- the first Big Tech hearing since the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.

It’s like some kind of joke. How many times are we going to put these f-tards up so that they can lie and keep doing what they are doing with the nod and wink from pathetic congress?

Tucker played a clip of Dorsey saying he moderated content. That’s what a publisher does.

AND THIS Gen Flynn’s brother and wife, Jack and Leslie Flynn, who live in Rhode Island, alleged in U.S. District Court in NYC that the CNN report on Feb. 4 falsely portrayed them as members of QAnon by selectively airing video footage from a family outing last Fourth of July where they joined Michael Flynn in reciting the oath to the Constitution that members of Congress take.

At the end of oath, Michael Flynn uttered the phrase “Where we go one, we go all,” and the entire family responded, “God Bless America.” CNN edited out the pledge and the “God Bless America” exclamation and claimed the phrase uttered by President Trump’s national security adviser was an “infamous QAnon slogan,” the suit alleged.

In fact, Michael Flynn’s phrase was drawn from an inscription first “engraved on a bell on one of President John F. Kennedy’s sailboats, acknowledging the unity of mankind,” the suit stated.

“General Flynn intended to encourage people to think about being good citizens, to love country and be good patriots,” the lawsuit said. “The video had nothing to do with QAnon or recruiting ‘digital soldiers’ for an apocalyptic reckoning.”

As a result, “CNN falsely accused Plaintiffs of being ‘followers’ and supporters of the ‘dangerous,’ ‘violent,’ ‘racist,’ ‘extremist,’ ‘insurrectionist,’ ‘domestic terrorism movement – QAnon,” the suit argued.

“Plaintiffs are not followers or supporters of any extremist or terrorist groups, including QAnon,” it added. “CNN falsely attributed to Plaintiffs associations that never existed, actions Plaintiffs never took, including an oath of allegiance to QAnon, and views Plaintiffs never held.”

Facebook is facing a $15 billion class-action lawsuit alleging the firm illegally tracked
the online activities of its users......when they aren’t on the platform......in violation of the federal Wiretap Act.

Facebook’s appeal to the Supreme Court was rejected......the lawsuit will move forward.

Jack the freak keeps brazenly lying. Their censorship grows.

Zero evidence of any Hunter hack. They blocked the NY Post account for a week.

Twatter is a political publisher.

Get off of Twitter. They shadow ban anyway. I had 300 followers and most of my tweets would get 10 impressions.

I wonder if Hidin’s “news conference” was scheduled for today in order to deflect attention from these hearings.

“We made a total mistake with The New York Post. We corrected it within 24 hours,” Dorsey said

This is an arrogant lie.

Total? A guy who speaks like a teenager is restricting speach in America and covering up massive corruption from a presidential candidate in an election cycle.
