The heads of social media giants Facebook, Twitter, and Google faced off against lawmakers on Capitol Hill. They’re testifying in a hearing on disinformation on their platforms. And Facebook is facing a $15 billion class-action lawsuit alleging the firm illegally tracked the online activities of its users when they aren’t on the platform. That’s in violation of the federal Wiretap Act. While Facebook appealed to the Supreme Court, the firm was rejected. That means the lawsuit will move forward.
They definitely did this, I’ve seen all sorts of FB cookies where FB was never used.

As much as I hate Facebook and I’m perpetually in Facebook jail, what are the alternatives?
Twitter we can do without for sure.
But for communications? Facebook, Facebook Messager, and WhatsApp have a good monopoly, and their stuff “just works” for the masses.
No one wants to fall back to pre-Internet times for communications or even to email.
Email works. So do boards.
