Limbaugh syndicator to continue airing archival footage, guest hosts

Rush Limbaugh's syndicated radio talk show will go on with a series of guest hosts airing archived episodes following the conservative host's death earlier this year.

Premiere Networks told USA Today on Tuesday that it would continue a practice that began during Limbaugh's absences for cancer treatments, in which guest hosts introduce listeners to various clips of Limbaugh opining on the issues of the day.

“No one can replace Rush Limbaugh, and Premiere Networks will continue to provide millions of loyal listeners with the voice of Rush for the long term,” said a spokeswoman.

If they did the Best of Rush with Rush all the way throughfir some of the shows without interruptions from the guide hosts that would be better. The guide host talking for a few minutes, then an old of Rush talking for a few minutes, and it switching back and forth every 5 minutes is not good radio.

Correct. As long as the show is providing content (i.e. guest hosts and copyrighted exclusive material) then Premiere Networks is obligated to continue with the contract at the negotiated salary.

However, under the circumstances, it is probably best for both sides to renegotiate, possibly making an earlier end to the show in return for a longer payout of the money still unpaid from the contract spread out over several years. That would seem fair to me but neither side *has* to accept it.

There could also be a clause already in the contract that would dictate what happens in the event of the talent (i.e. Rush) being forced to take a prolonged absence or early curtailment. I also suspect there are other contingencies as well. In fact, Rush said openly that he hated to take his annual physical but he was forced to do it as part of his contract then said had it not been for the physical, he wouldn’t know he had cancer since he still felt fine.

In fact, once it became clear that Rush was terminal, I don’t doubt that Premiere tried to work out a settlement and probably did so but, due to the situation, did not make an announcement about it. I would not be surprised at all if the lawyers got together during the final months and worked something out.

we all have a limited time. the torch needs to be passed on otherwise that slot will be lost. you can bet that libral are hoping that a new torch bearer does not replace rush.

Frankly I just find him too weepy. And one time a lib called in, explaining how they now owned the voting machines, academia, et al, Todd just tried to convince the guy to like him, instead of finding out what their plan was.

He was the greatest. He’s gone. Move on. Stop being so maudlin. I flip the channel now rather than listen.

I’ve already turned the show off completely. I’ve already heard what he had to say, there are current issues I want to hear about.

Listened to Rush for over 39 years.

They should scale back the occurrence frequency of these clips imho. It’s time for the audience need to move forward now.

Big mistake. Rush is gone, and so is his show. These “guides” are a joke.

What they should have done, instead of this current morose format, is open the Rush Archives and Podcasts up to all, and let us choose which ones we want to listen to.

So apparently Dan Bongino is NOT taking over the show after all? I’d heard that he was.

That story was easily identifiable bunk.

I first heard Rush at almost exactly 1 year after he began nationally. Would like to hear that first year.

Amen. Nobody can imitate Rush’s optimism and confidence the American people will prevail.
