How To Stop Critical Race Theory In Your Local Schools: Advice From A School Board Member
The Daily Wire ^ | MARCH 23, 2021 | EORGIA HOWE

Since I began covering the spread of critical race theory into public school curriculum, I’ve received one question more than any other: what concrete actions should we be taking to get this stuff out of kids classrooms?

This morning, I spoke to Vicki Manning, school board member with the Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS). Vickie has been on the frontlines of the battle against CRT in her district for the past 7 months. Here’s her advice:

Show Up

First and foremost, Vickie urges parents (and concerned citizens) to attend local school board meetings. “Show up, speak up, and write to the board”, Vickie suggests. Showing up in person is best (or via zoom when necessary), but letters and emails go a long way. In terms of swaying the school board, there is power in numbers.

According to Vickie there is reason to be hopeful. In her experience, many parents in her purple district are concerned and willing to get involved. She believes the wave of parent resistance to critical race theory is poised to grow in other districts as well.

An easy first step is contacting your local school board to ask their stance on critical race theory and what policies, if any, are in place to ensure students are protected from ideological indoctrination at school.

Investigate

Vickie also suggests talking to your child about what’s being discussed in their classes. “Ask them about their subjects, talk about what they are learning.”

Also worth nothing is the importance of reading course syllabi and investigating any 3rd party websites or organizations referenced. Many teachers use educational websites as resources for lessons and videos, and a quick perusal of the types of websites your child’s teacher uses will tell you a lot about the tone of the lessons...

In Portland, Oregon, it appears that the union contract expressly authorizes teachers to use whatever they dredge off the Internet to “educate” the children, in probable violation of state law requiring approved curriculum.

One thing I’ve really learned this past year is the power of the school boards, the only accountable entity regarding public schools locally. The news likes to blame Superintendents and districts and unions and teachers for these shutdowns, and they are to blame (not to mention county health directors and governors), but when states and counties do give the “all clear,” it is the school boards that make the final decisions to stay closed.

Parents in our area were the first district in all of CA to initiate a recall of our school board trustees this year. We have already gathered enough signatures to recall one, likely two more, and then perhaps the final two after that.

I regret now not paying much attention to school board meetings in the past. Now I see that they are hapless, feckless hacks who lack courage (as Steve Bannon would say).

I pulled both my teens out now (one is homeschooling and one went to private), but if I still had kids in this district, I would NEVER miss a meeting again. Yes it’s time to take a very close look at the curriculum (which generally sucks in CA public schools).

We did the same in Michigan and then we ran folks from our side. It was a fight, but we took it to ‘em.

Charge the Critical Race Theory propagandizers in schools with child abuse and with giving aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States.

Then try, convict, and sentence the CRT criminals to becoming one-time rope testers.

It basically says that people with lighter skin are responsible for any negative things that people with darker skin live with .
If you are white, you are oppressing people with darker skin.

you have a legal right to ‘audit’ your children’s classes.

In my experience, most teachers finding you in their classroom on a ‘visit’ will tell students to pull out their books and read, rather than actively teach. So, if there is prior announcement of a particular topic, go. Sit there. Quietly. Take your own book to read. Leave about 15 minutes before the bell rings. Quietly. Don’t look around or make eye contact with ANY student. Be an island. Flash a smile at the teacher. Audit as many times as you possibly can. If someone questions why you keep showing up, make up an excuse - your child is being bullied and you are just a quiet presence to deter that. You had a health scare and temporarily need to be near your child for your psychological heeling. Your child started cutting classes and you’re sending a message of your long reach. Clue your child in before the day. Whatever lie you need to make up. But go and keep going. More children (and parents) than you know will be grateful. These are your schools and your children. Take back control on a grass roots level.

I know Victoria Manning, and we are fortunate to have her on the Virginia Beach School Board.

If only we had far more like her on the School Board, City Council, Virginia General Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate, this nation would be far more compliant with our Constitution and a lot better off.

Watch the parents/conservatives counter-CRT revolt in both Fairfax and Loudon counties (two of the richest counties in the US), Virginia.

They are leading the counterattack, going after leftist texts/programs, teachers, principals, administrators and local politicians.

Google or GoGoDuck Loudon and/or Fairfax County & Virginia to see what is on the internet about this revolt.
