WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United Auto Workers union criticized Ford Motor Co’s plan to build a new vehicle in Mexico rather than at an Ohio plant, suggesting it might be in violation of the automaker’s contractual commitments.
In a letter made public on Tuesday, UAW Vice President Gerald Kariem said Ford intends to build a next-generation vehicle in Mexico. “We 100% reject the company’s decision to put corporate greed and more potential profits over American jobs and the future of our members. We expect the company to honor its contractual commitments to this membership and when it fails to do so we will take action,” Kariem wrote in the Friday letter. “We are intensely exploring our options at this time,” he added.
The UAW said Ford in 2019 as part of its four-year contract agreement had committed $900 million for the plant in Avon Lake, Ohio, including a next-generation product to be added in 2023, which the UAW letter said would secure the plant’s “employment well into the foreseeable future.”
Ford issued a statement on Tuesday that did not directly address the union’s criticism but said in a letter to employees on Monday that conditions had changed since 2019.
Ford said in November it was planning to build an additional electric vehicle at its plant in Cuautitlan, Mexico, where the Mustang Mach-E is produced. Automotive News cited a person familiar with Ford’s plans that the automaker had been considering building electric vehicles in Ohio and had instead decided to assemble them in Mexico. Ford declined to comment.

So.....the jobs were going to stay in the US but the UAW helped get rid of that mean ole Trump and now "conditions have changed" so those jobs are going to Mexico. The union leaderships do not appear to care about American workers at all else they would not only stop supporting Leftists but actively oppose them and fight for jobs. Leadership must be paid off to allow this to happen year after year in conjunction with the leftist administrations they support who help offshore millions of US jobs.

One of Donald Trump’s earliest departures from the usual RINO style was when he said he is a friend of Bill Ford and h’es till going to tell him tomorrow not to move the American auto jobs to Mexico or Trump will have them called “foreign imports” with taxes on them.
UAW should realize without America First it means union workers in all fields cost so much they have to be replaced by foreign ones (China,Vietnam,Mexico,Pakistan, India....) to save money.
I guess all of those “good union jobs” Biden spoke about just went adios.

What do union members don't get is that the Democratic Party controls their leadership through payoffs and favors so union members will be sacrificed as pawns as needed.
Dumba@@es supported Biden and the 28% corporate tax rate— that forces the companies to go back out of the country and eliminate union jobs.
They really are this crass— the union paid off leadership- which is where the rank and file union ought to be paying attention (personally, don’t think they voted for Biden, but the minority of them helped STEAL the elections for them- See: SEIU, AFSCME and the other alphabet organizations of govt. employees UNIONS!)
Want to stop this? Get RID of the government employees UNIONS. Federal especially. Imagine— the IRS agents who harass for “tax violations” are UNIONIZED and demonrats— to collect funds for their and other agencies to continue to harass us in more and more ways.... dictatorial and command economy all in one. And a prescription for FAILURE of our Republic.
