Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D) is promoting an “Assault Weapons” ban and suggesting that she is doing so in order that her daughters can grow up in a country that will “protect them.”
Duckworth suggested that “Congress has a duty to act” on gun control and responded to Congressional refusal to pass more gun laws by saying, “enough is enough.”

Girls need to know how to protect themselves.
Does she support the “defund the police” movement? If yes, then she expects the guards at her gated community to protect her kids. Law-abiding citizens with guns are a threat only to crooks and fascists.
I hear the UK and Australia are 100% violent crime free since they banned guns, move there.
...a Country that Will ‘Protect Them’
I do not want to be shot by any weapon, but if you gave me a choice, I’d be shot by a 5.25 full-metal-jacket bullet, from an AR-15 before being shot by a soft-nosed .30 from a bolt-action, non-assault style hunting rifle, or a .357 revolver with a hollow-point.
Just saying, the term “Assault Weapon” does not make it more deadly.
Further proof that our military had been socially engineered and dumbed down. How did a moron like this serve? Or that leftist SECDEF Austin?
The Clinton era assault weapons ban was in force during Columbine, but it didn’t keep girls safe . . . or boys, or teachers . . .
I am sorry but I don’t want the government to protect me.
Sorry, USA, for this poor excuse of a Senator, but the GOP alternative was Mark Kirk who who would say the same crap and vote the same way.
The entire point of the 2nd Amendment was to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government, like the one we currently have.
Banning guns like they did heroin will completely clean up the streets of guns. It’s amazing that since the ban, not one speck of heroin has made it to the streets. </s>
Finding 5.25 ammo is getting harder and harder. None available on ammoseek. :-)
Look no further than Anton Myrer's epic novel, Once an Eagle. Our officer corps has turned to Courtney Massengale as their model, when they should be Sam Damons.
It's a novel that's been part of the curriculum at the Army War College for years. I read it when I was a 2nd LT.
Firmative factions?
I hate to tell her this but so called AR’s are only responsible for a small amount of deaths compaired to handguns which has killed way more. Personally I think the so called AR debate is the canary in the coal mine, it is all personally owned weapons they are after which wont mean a damn thing to thugs.
Weakness and stupidity are not good methods of protection. Add to that ignorance and laziness, which is the only excuse for not doing your homework. This is Duckworth’s current milieu. The truth is that the Democrat Party is overseeing the decline of law and human rights in this country, and she wants to make sure the Constitution is made irrelevant and that no law abiding citizen can alter that result. I don’t really think this is such a good idea.
Tammy Duckworth wants her daughters to live in a country where they’ll be coddled from cradle to grave by a loving government. But when no one is left who can stand on their own two feet, society and the economy collapse and the strong have to lift everything back up again. Greece got just a taste of what that’s like a few years ago and they’ve endured severe economic pain ever since.
What Tammy fails to understand is that the myth of the all-knowing, all-powerful, benevolent government is exactly that. Government is slow, inefficient, uncaring, and expensive. The bigger it gets, the worse it works. If Tammy wants her daughters protected, she needs to raise them such that they’re able to protect themselves. Protect themselves economically, protect themselves physically, and protect themselves mentally. Failure to do so under the idea that government will just handle everything is child neglect and shirking responsibility.
In other words, not only is Tammy Duckworth a failure of a legislator, she’s also a failure as a mother.
They know and don’t care.
