One of the four elements of a perfect PFT in the Marines is to complete THREE miles in under 18-minutes. For a man under the age of 30, 27:40 is a fail...again, for three miles. I'm 53 and I can still run it in under 19:00. I think failure for my age group is anything above 30:00.
At a pace equal to a 10:30-mile, you're barely jogging. And yet, they can't even raise their standard to two-miles in 21:00?
Good Lord, just give the keys to the country to China now and get it over with.
BTW, for women Marines (WMs), they have to run 3-miles in ( I think) 30(ish) minutes, which is just a bit faster pace than what’s being expected of female soldiers.
How do WMs do? Not good. The Marines don’t go out of their way to publicize the failure rates. But, the last metrics I saw before I retired, the failure rate for women was EAILY above 60%. For men, it’s less than 5%.
So yeah, the Marines have more than their fair share of problems too. I can’t imagine what it’s like in the Navy or Air Force.
Look how fat Vindman was yet was still allowed to wear the uniform. That never would have been allowed just a decade or so ago. Things are deteriorating quickly.
‘I think failure for my age group is anything above 30:00.’
failure for what...? who fails them...?
I’m in my 60s. A back injury 12 years ago prevented me from jogging for nearly 10 years. But I can run 2 miles in under 21 minutes...
When I was in the USAF woman had to run the mile and a half in under 16 minutes...I did it in 11 minutes in basic...
