This bill could be the key to securing the southern border.
Texas state Rep. Bryan Slaton filed a bill in the Texas House of Representatives on March 4 aimed at creating a fund to pay for “border security enhancement projects.” As an Op-Ed from The Blaze’s Daniel Horowitz explained, it could even lead to the construction of the border wall in certain states.
Slaton’s bill would use state funds to complete the border wall in Texas and would require the governor to seek reimbursement from the federal government. In short, if the bill passes in the Texas legislature, the state would be able to construct a border wall system along its southern border using money from the Biden administration.
The bill would also strengthen Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s existing push for border security, reinforcing “Operation Lone Star” which launched this week and deployed National Guard and Border Patrol agents to protect the southern border against incoming drug cartels.
Both moves for security on the border are being made in response to the Biden administration’s actions so far. President Joe Biden halted construction of the border wall the day he took office, declaring a pause on “work on each construction project on the southern border wall.”
Construction for the border wall began in 2017 with then-President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 13767, which ordered “the immediate construction of a physical wall on the southern border.”
Horowitz wrote that the Trump administration constructed 453 miles of new fencing along the southern border: 373 miles of replacement fencing and 80 miles of brand-new fencing.
According to border agents, though, the construction halt in January created a system of highways for drug cartels and human traffickers along the southern border. “We just built roads for the cartels,” Cochise County, Arizona, Sheriff Mark Dannels told The...

This is most excellent news.
Build the damn wall!!!!
I suspect “we build the wall” and donations would pour in along with average Joe’s like us wanting to help literally with our hands. However since it would be by professional contractors, we could go and feed them etc, but my guess is they would build it faster than the morrass that was created for PDJT by the Progressive Loons. My guess is the Gov gives the Progs the Italian Salute and just keeps building....
A slight problem... that pesky constitution thingie...
The power to regulate immigration is specifically granted to the fed...
I don’t think it will pass muster from the courts...
And you know the commies, both democrat and republican, will fight that tooth and nail
I’m sure that a Federal Judge somewhere will grant a permanent injunction against Texas’s building of a border wall on the grounds that defending/securing the border is a Federal matter and that states have absolutely no say in the matter.
There is much ‘Hey Slo-Joe, stick it where the sun don’t shine’ attitude developing around here. San Antonio’s mayor even went on CNN to whine about Gov Abbot canceling the mask mandate for Texas. Da Mayor was soundly roasted everywhere except the San Antonio Pravda. One would think that the mayor of a major metropolitan city would notice that Abbot only cancelled the mandate and left mask wearing up to the individual citizens of the state. But our mayor is from Baaaston where big government is celebrated and control and subjugation is the goal.
Feds will win ‘border authority’ in the courts.
...would build it faster than the morrass that was created for PDJT by the Progressive Loons.
Except the governor has some responsibility to keep Texans safe. I’m sure they expect it and will eventually demand it from their elected officials. Hopefully this measure succeeds.
The feds are breaking current immigration law by not enforcing it.
So there's that.
Staton rhymes with satan...
Showboating. Not a chance of it passing by a Democrat congress.
This is state congress...
Not immigration enforcement... blocking drug and human trafficking. It’s a state law enforcement measure.
sorry. Missed the “Texas House “ phrase (that kinda day).

Many Texans are just begging for an excuse to secede. It’s not a joke here, though the media is presented it as such.
