Full Title: When going green is dirty: Colorado's indoor cannabis farms produce 30% more greenhouse emissions than the state's coal mining industry due to electricity use and natural gas consumption, study reveals
Growing cannabis indoors requires a lot of energy for lights and climate controls
Many states forbid outdoor farming or require operations to be near retail outlets
In Colorado, indoor pot farming's carbon footprint is over 30 percent bigger than coal mining
Depending on where you are, growing an ounce of weed indoors has the same carbon footprint as burning 7 to 16 gallons of gasoline

which means all those global warming zealots need to shut it about global warming if they want to stay high
CO₂ levels in our atmosphere average around 400ppm. The ideal CO₂ levels to increase the yield of cannabis plants is roughly 1,200 to 2,000ppm. Studies show that CO₂ levels of up to 10,000ppm can still significantly increase plant growth.
The industry uses a lot of CO2 Shut it down!
Sounds like electric cars.
Dood weeeeeeeed doooooooood
Colorado’s coal mines currently employ about 1100 people.
6 Colorado power plants are still operating on coal. They make the electricity for the pot farmers.
It’s a symbiotic relationship, dude!
Colorado marijuana revenue last 12 months was over $1 billion. Highest paying current listed job opening is a “Director Of Cultivation” position paying $85-$125k depending on qualifications.
Couldn’t find similar numbers for Colorado coal.
Most of Colorado is at high altitude, short outdoor growing season.
There are many indoor grow farms for all kinds of flowers, plants, and vegetables.
Why pick on marijuana? Not much of a story here.
Cannabis is the left’s favorite drug. No sort of environmental argument is ever going to persuade them to abandon the wacky weed. You could definitively prove that cannabis farming was the worst environmental disaster since Chernobyl, and they’d just shrug and say, “Dude, we just want to get high.”
The legalization of drugs is what has fueled the rise of the crazy left. Our enemy's have taken advantage of that in much the same way the English used opium on the Chinese.. But, as turned out the Chinese were quite a bit smarter then the average democrat and caught on to the plan..
besides it’s fun to poke at the lefties, the hidden message may be directed at a more euro audience given that the US and Messico is legalizing which may drive an undesired push elsewhere. Euros being hyper global warming conscious, virtuous little children they are who can’t think of another ghostie in the closet to worry about that isn’t scary - like russia invading or china poisoning them, etc. It’s a new conundrum for the global warming Bills and Teds to tie themselves into a pretzel over.
Because customers don't convert flowers, plants, and vegetables to smoke?
But if the industry is using CO2, where did that CO2 come from?
Next thing these killjoys will want is no use of CO2 tanks for beer kegs.
Stupid to grow indoors when the sunshine is right outside.
I grew up on a farm, it’s a hard way to make a living.
Ask any farmer if they want to be paid better. Ask any farmer if they care how their crops are used as long as it pays off.
Witness the corn that is converted into gasohol.
While we are speaking of smoking..... tobacco farmers still receive more than $60 million in subsidies a year through the federally subsidized crop insurance program.
This whole time I thought CO2 is a pollutant.
Did I need a sarcasm tag on that?
Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.) ..

They convert quiet a bit to alcohol aka toxin to drink.
I grew up in the 70’s and weed was never my thing. The few time I did try it, it made me tired and unproductive. Now being in my 60’s, I have chronic pain and am desperate for relief. Tried 1/2 THC and 1/2 CBD lotion while in Colorado. Unbelievable amount of pain relief. And no high! I understand many people find relief from ingesting it also. Many different strains for different ailments (PTSD, pain, insomnia etc.) I was skeptical but am now completely sold on the benefits.
Until just a few weeks ago, total CBD/THC skeptic; now, there is no doubt it has many benefits, I was shocked. And for those totally opposed to the Cannabis plant, the stuff I used was from the Hemp plant, not that I personally care, but it might make someone opposed to ‘pot’, willing to try it.
And unfortuneantly, because most here are older, many will not try it, when they could really benefit from it.
