Checking In On A Texas School District Where The Schools Never Closed
Hot Air ^ | March 10, 2021 | JAZZ SHAW

When the state announced its own version of lockdowns and face mask mandates last spring, Peaster briefly experimented with remote learning. But a survey of parents and students showed that a majority didn’t like it. When it came time for classes to start in August, Peaster simply ignored most of the mandates. They continued their classes as usual. For both teachers and students alike, if you wanted to wear a mask you were free to do so. If not, you didn’t. It was as simple as that. They didn’t move the student’s desks any further apart. Nobody was learning “remotely” unless that’s what the families wanted to do. People came and went as they wished. So what happened? As the local CBS News outlet reports… pretty much nothing.

No one has been placed into a mandatory quarantine.

Homecoming happened on schedule. The pancake dinner, fall festival, sports and concerts all took place as planned.

The result, according to Superintendent Lance Johnson, has been a higher enrollment and average daily attendance numbers ahead of last year.

Johnson also said district data shows most students are on track to finish the school year on grade level, closing the learning gap that occurred when schools shut down last spring.

Once the kids went back to school in August, there were no cases of COVID in the schools for ten weeks. Some cases did pop up in the fall for a little while, but it amounted to three teachers and seven students. Nobody died.

The linked study was conducted in a region in Wisconsin that’s significantly more densely populated than Peaster County, Texas. And they had roughly the same per capita results. The research physicians who conducted that study cited other studies with similar results around the country.

My Grandson is in the 2nd grade and started school on time, in person on July 26th in GA. The NYT and CNN did a story on the district noting that the country was overwhelming Trump supporters who chose liberty over science! lololol Yep sports started on time as well. The school has never closed due to an “outbreak”.

My suggestion, don’t go out in public if you
are feeling sick, even if it’s a headache.
I know people who have had symptoms that started
with a headache or fatigue...Couple of them did
not initially think they had covid, they were
wrong.
A group of us were around someone who started having
a headache the day after we were around her, two
days later she tested positive for covid..As for those
who had been around her (we were indoors, not wearing masks) no one got sick...That suggests to me that people are not that contagious the day before they come down with
symptoms.

How serious were the symptoms? Any worse than the seasonal flu?

My daughter is a teacher in the local school district, which is cursed with a very strong teacher union. They are just getting kids into the classroom, after a disaster of "remote learning" and empty schools, except for the teachers and staff.

Of course, some teachers tested positive and had actual symptoms in the fall, even with mostly empty buildings. So it seems like the teachers were really afraid of being in the same room with the kids, but nobody wants to say that out loud.

I have managed 41 flu seasons as a specialist in infectious diseases.

This disease is nothing like the flu.

This disease is nothing like the flu.

Your statement begs for explanation. There are myriad criteria which might make your statement correct, however, unmeaning-full.

Does "nothing like" refer to the way it is transmitted, the severity of the symptoms, both, or something else altogether.

So now this is publicized, how soon will the Biden saboteurs bus in a group of covid 19 positive illegal aliens and demand they receive all local benefits including admission to the schools?

I have managed 41 flu seasons as a specialist in infectious diseases.

After Fauxchi, that credential means nothing anymore. He’s the real expert and he knows nothing.
