Lehigh County GOP votes to censure Toomey

Members of the Lehigh County Republican Committee have formally condemned U.S. Senator Pat Toomey for his decision to convict former President Trump in his second impeachment trial.

The committee voted Tuesday night to censure Toomey, according to multiple people who were in the closed-door meeting.

The vote is largely symbolic. Toomey has said he will not run for reelection in 2022.

The Republican senator has been in trouble with the GOP since casting his guilty vote.

The Monroe County GOP and Schuylkill County GOP both have censured Toomey for his vote to convict Trump.

Many of us here in PA are outraged about Toomey, but he’s an arrogant guy and does not care. Democrats are applauding him on his FB page. This particular article on WFMZ’s FB’s page has democrats praising him too. We have around 8 colleges & universities here in the Lehigh Valley & we’re surrounded by liberals. We have the largest Tea Party in the country, though, that meets the first Thursday of every month in Allentown.

This is better than nothing, but it’s still like peeing in the ocean.

This won’t affect Toomey getting a big fat salary with a K Street lobbying firm. In fact, it will endear him even more to them. While the P.C. crowd is censoring normal First Amendment discussion, we need to amend it to prohibit lobbying after officials leave government. That will make them less arrogant. Congress will never do that, but a constitutional convention of the states could.

Can any Republican possibly win a statewide race in PA? With the current “rules” I am just not seeing it. And Pat runs away without doing a thing about it. I’m running away, he decides that he should completely sell out. This is beyond disappointing.

I remember when he was viewed as a diehard Conservative. As a matter of fact, Santorum once told me that he backed Specter over Toomey because he was afraid that the state could only tolerate one Conservative Senator. Santorum was afraid that if Toomey won it would ruin Santorum’s own chances.

I volunteered for Toomey in 2000 & I was convinced he was a conservative.

Just have to get rid of no excuse mail in voting and manage the corruption in Filthadelphia and Pttsburgh.
