We don’t know that there was any threat that necessitated over 25,000 National Guard troops being in Washington, D.C., for Joseph Robinette Biden’s inauguration. We don’t know if there’s any threat that necessitates thousands of those troops being there now — or that any threat might exist in the near future that requires their presence in the nation’s capital.
But they get a cool ribbon for being there!
According to American Military News, those who served in the District of Columbia over the past few weeks will get either the District of Columbia National Guard Presidential Inauguration Support Ribbon or the District of Columbia Emergency Service Ribbon. In some cases, individuals could get both.
The Emergency Service Ribbon has already existed for those who serve in a time of crisis or an emergency that doesn’t have to do with war.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Inauguration Support Ribbon exists specifically for those who were in the District of Columbia for the inauguration.

When they returned and received their end of month pay, with the extra combat pay, they both went AWOL.
They returned while I was on duty at the front gate. My orders were to arrest them if they showed up. I did and handcuffed them to the front gate.
After calling the S-2 to come get them, I asked them where they'd been, and what they had been up to. (They were friends of mine, it was NOT an interrogation.)
They said they'd just been shacking up and drinking until they ran of drinking money so had to return.
Within a month they both ets'd and got out

Many medals were earned. And very many were not. Since Vietnam it’s part of the ticket punch.
inedible meals, inadequate billeting, and poorly focused mission. But you get a ribbon.
Guadalcanal guys didn’t get ribbons, but those who guarded cowards do.
They should receive a ribbon for being around so many democrats it must be some sort of military experiment going on.

Now we can convene the All-American Extraordinary Commission at the Council of People’s Commissars for Combating Counter-Revolution and Sabotage, headed by Direktor J. Edgar Wray to pass out this noble award for standing around and looking menacing for Peloi’s photographers.
