epresentative William Lamberth presents his Lifetime Order of Protection Bill. This bill is to prevent victims from being re-victimized, like Nikki Goeser. She had been married for just over 16 months, when her husband Ben was murdered in front of her by her stalker. The murderer/stalker has sent her twisted love letters from prison for many years. He is scheduled to be released from prison early. Nikki is fighting for a Lifetime Order of Protection Law in TN. Nikki testifies here in support of the legislation.

The problem is that for whatever reason(s), the state only secured a conviction on 2nd Degree Murder (he shot the deceased victim ELEVEN times yet they only get 2nd Degree murder?). So, I’m guessing the judge was limited to how many years the assailant could be sentenced to prison; most states have sentencing guidelines and I suspect TN isn’t any different.
He’s getting out early for ‘good behavior,’ which would also be something outside the scope of the judge’s authority. I agree with the victim that the letters themselves are a form of harassment. How does that meet the definition of ‘good behavior.’
I think the warden, parole boards and controlling statutory law and the failure of the prosecutors to convict on 1st degree murder are all likely more culpable for the victim’s current situation than anything else.
This is such a travesty of justice. It boggles the mind, and is so disheartening. How is it that the real criminals seem to get the least punishment, while the victims get no justice? This woman should never have to fear for her life, but this guy will come straight for her. How awful.
Because this crime took place in Nashville (Davidson County.) They NEVER use the death penalty there, not even as a bargaining chip for life in prison. The entire town and the court system is run by liberals. The Judge for the case was a bleeding heart liberal, known for being a drug court Judge and he was soft on drug offenders. That Judge got handed a murder case as a bench trial and he dropped it from 1st degree to 2nd degree. So now the murderer is getting out early. It is pathetic that a victim has to resort to fighting for legislation like this but at this point, it’s really her only option. Other than carrying her gun, which she does. The criminal justice system has let her down. You should read her book about all of this. It’s called Stalked and Defenseless.
If the guy is released from prison she’ll have to take a hit out on him. Seriously. If the law doesn’t have our best interests in mind we have to take care of the problem ourselves. I’m sick of the nonsense of courts and laws and bleeding heart communists.
Training with a good 9mm or .380 and a carry permit. Be aware of your surroundings at all times and be ready to use that training. Good luck, we are praying for you.
She should buy herself a gun or good knife. They, unlike, the Lifetime Order of Protection, may , if used properly, save her life. The Lifetime Order of Protection is at best, good for toilet paper or to blow ones nose on or wipe one’s face with.
I agree.
Does she have an armed relative who can be told the when and where of his release? That individual needs to have an “accident”.
She should shoot him on sight. If I were on her jury, she would have one not guilty vote.
Sometimes the best defense is offense.
Get a gun and learn how to use it, lady.
SPJNK.
There was a time in Tennessee when we the people delivered justice if the courts and filthy corrupt judges didn’t. Sadly, the fen of Nashville is now state-wide.
Order of protection is worthless. She needs a Mal and a .40 cal.
I hope she carries constantly and nails the inhuman savage.
I had a guy stalking me and I agreed to meet with to discuss the situation as to why he was doing it; my dad, uncle and two brothers showed up as well. I’ve not been bothered by him since.
Your situation was not deadly. You are lucky. Had he been as evil as this guy, all of your loved ones could be dead.
If I went alone it would have; this guy needed some personal persuasion.
She should watch the movie “Peppermint”. The gal’s family is murdered and she goes all Rambo meets the Punisher on their asses.
Judge Seth Norman in Davidson County, TN.
