Former President Trump vowed to travel to Alaska to campaign against Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R) next year as she seeks reelection.
Murkowski, who first took office in 2002, has been a longtime critic of the former president and top GOP wild card in recent votes. She bucked her party this week by announcing she’d back Rep. Deb Haaland’s (D-N.M.) nomination to serve as Interior secretary, and she was one of seven Senate Republicans to vote to convict Trump in his impeachment trial last month.
She is the only one of the seven seeking reelection in 2022.
"I will not be endorsing, under any circumstances, the failed candidate from the great State of Alaska, Lisa Murkowski. She represents her state badly and her country even worse. I do not know where other people will be next year, but I know where I will be — in Alaska campaigning against a disloyal and very bad Senator," Trump said in a statement to The Hill. "Her vote to advance radical left democrat Deb Haaland for Secretary of the Interior is yet another example of Murkowski not standing up for Alaska."
The threat marks the latest indication that Trump plans to heavily insert himself into 2022 races across the country.
Republicans predict that Trump will cast himself as a kingmaker in the GOP moving forward as he mulls a 2024 bid of his own. While he’s seen his approval rating nationally dip since the Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill, his endorsement is still coveted by Republican candidates eager to endear themselves with a grassroots that overwhelmingly still backs the former president.

Dear Moderator, I Inadvertently missed the last “i” in Murkowski’s family name. I would appreciate your correcting the typo. Thanks
I think Trump should just take the L here and focus on battleground states instead.
I hope he doesn’t spend too much of his time directly seeking ‘revenge’ against other GOP, and announcing this as his goal. I get why he would wish to, but if Mr. Trump becomes mainly known for this now, it may become more difficult for a candidate seeking office to use his endorsement.
The Trump endorsement should stand for Making America Better, not necessarily for Gettin Even before and beyond all else.
That negativity should not be his main Branding Message.
I am not sure it wouldn’t be better to wait to declare but so be it.
There’s a big elephant in the room and you’re missing it(again). Starts with the namee Sarah.
The toughest test of Trump’s new power.
Murk is heavily dependent on tribal voting by people who are not citizens but subjects.

Agree...well said.
I am popping popcorn, very interested in watching where this all goes over the next couple of years.
If Murkowski’s don’t go the Republican brand is tarnished and should be tarnished in the eyes of all Americans.
Even if she is successfully primaried she might mount another write-in campaign. This woman is like a hydra.
No country can be great with cows in the Senate.
Will he endorse someone else. Like maybe...
Trump needs to find a strong opponent who is a good communicator on the issues. Otherwise she may do what she did before — wage a write-in campaign and win with the help of Democrats.
I disagree. It’s good for incumbents to have to worry even in non-election years about Trump mobilizing against you for casting bad votes.
Hello? See my post 6.
Gov Palin is not going to run, her heart is still broken from being dumped by her husband.
