Fun Fact:

Bill gates imports Caribbean beach sand to spread around the waterfront shore of his compound in Washington.

Were both in GA, there is a lot of building going on in North GA.
Everyone is heading for the hills getting the heck out of Atlanta.

Or are we blaming this on White Supremacy?

I remember from watching "Shell's Wonderful World of Golf" in school that one of the Hawaiian Islands had Black sand instead of the usual White. Maybe the Bob Charles match played Maui in 1964? Or the later one on the Big Island?

(Although I don't know how accurate the Wikipedia list is- I remember a match from Ecuador that I don't see on the list.)

... Too bad there isn’t any more sand left in the Sahara or in the Desert Southwest to facilitate making glass ...

Central and West GA has a lot of building going on as well.

Atlanta is a cesspool. I was there a few weeks ago and it was like a crazy episode of the twilight zone being there.

Store fronts boarded up and homeless everywhere.

Now that the Iran-backing war party is back in control, there’s a good chance that the entire Middle East will end up a sheet of glass.

Then plenty for everyone...

That’s interesting that we sell sand to the Middle East.

There are only so many roads in the valleys and no where else to put new ones with mountains in the way and those existing roads are getting crowded. Went down a one lane back road today and the traffic was ridiculous, kept having to pull over and let cars pass.

There are also people retiring here from Florida plus the New Yorkers are looking for a quiet place to land. The valleys are smoky from all the construction fires, expect it to be that way for years to come. Its changing.

My county in northern Virginia stopped regular recycling of food jars/glass, etc. because there was no market for it. For a year or more it was to be thrown into the “Trash/garbage” bin for dumping in landfills.

Now they just announced that they are getting money for the glass bottles/jars, etc. that are dropped off in specific collection bins.

You can’t win with these idiots.

Also, the used vaccine vials should be recycled. Not mentioned in the article. Glass lying around in landfills can be recycled to some degree. The same for glass items dredged up from rivers/bays and/or collected during environmental cleanup projects.

Most sand is quartz and there is plenty of quartz in mountains/layers that could be efficiently mined. I guess they couldn’t use granite/basalt or volcanic ash right now, but it might be feasible if they make a real effort to look into it (the article did mention volcanic ash).

By the way, there is sand in the Sahara, Khalahri, and Mongolian deserts. Anyone checked them out. I hear they’re wide open and any mining business would help the indigenous peoples improve their lives.

There’s probably going to be a bunch of fracking sand lying around. Maybe Xiden’s “scientists” can figure out how to use that. Hell, he’ll probably buy it from Xi and make his 10%.

A Capitalist can sell sand in Sahara, a Communist can run out of sand in Sahara.

Too bad we can’t recycle glass. Someone needs to work on that. Maybe find a way to crush it and melt it to create new glass containers?
