Dining at restaurants and the lack of mask mandates are each linked to the spread of the virus in the U.S., the C.D.C. says.

I read that there were three deaths at Woodstock. Should that be part of mentioning the event every time? Of course not, because they were not caused by going to Woodstock. Same as all the deaths related to the January 6 event except for the shooting of one unarmed woman.

They can’t stand the thought of people walking around without a fear-muzzle on.

States need to change their constitution so that there is a time limit on any state of emergency called by the governor. After that time limit an extension would need to go through the state legislature as with a law. We have turned this country into a dictatorship with many governors acting as a mini dictator over their own state.

Elementary my dear Watson,

COVID19 is an extortion racket

they waited until a huge crop of baby boomers turned to seed and here comes the grim reaper to roll out the viru$.

Bill Gates is one of the "they" and he is the wretched human who invented the computer virus (and the Zika viru$ ) extortion rackets, left a Windows open to let it in, then people had to pay or Norton would send them a virus

This virus is very similar but is way more profitable

If COVID-19 were solely a medical problem and not a hugely political problem, all testing labs would’ve been required to publish the number of cycles (amplifications) that they used in order to declare a test as a positive. Also data (not any identifying data) from death certificates which included COVID-19 on one of its five lines for cause of death should’ve been entered into a huge database to see not only on which lines the coronavirus was listed, but also what the comorbidities were as well as the ages of the deceased.

Sadly this disease may be more political than medical and so all statistics are murky. What computers do best is crunch lots of numbers. We could’ve known long ago exactly the prevalence and severity of this coronavirus.

Was in Indy in June at it was pretty much open.

Few masks at grocery stores. I got to see strangers smile!!! I never realized how that was a wonderful part of my life.

The face burka is to cut off our emotional necessary socialization. A way to control.

Was trained to work in an O.R. Was taught masks where worn in that situation to stop bacteria we may breath out from getting in a patients wound.

In a size comparison of bacteria and virus size....a bacteria is the size of your head and a virus is the size of you pupil. This mandatory mask stuff isn’t using real science.

that would only work if we had free and fair elections.....so the first step would need to be to restore the electoral process

Studies would have to have followed 2 large groups of people-one group wearing masks, the other group wearing no masks and the study would have to have been done for a period of months. This was not done.

Yes, and a multitude of other lifestyle and health variables would have to be controlled in order to insure the validity of results.

We should be fine here. We’ve been dining in restaurants for a lot longer than 2 months.

Trump had huge mostly unmasked rallies this summer. Did you ever hear of any report of a major spike in those area?

No

and you know dang well if there were spikes it would have been headline news for weeks.

Agree human avarice is at work. Still contemplating what else may be going on. This whole thing has a stench I can’t yet define.

Yeah that’s the Democrat plan. Permanently close any public social activities to more closely align with their base, living virtually in their parents basement.

Gang, Antifa and BLM are the only authorized group activities.

Maybe the events, travel, tourism and sports (with fans) industries will come back in 2024, after the Trump landslide?

Until then, plenty of minimum wage part-time McJobs for all.

Link to the study from the first paragraph: Association of State-Issued Mask Mandates and Allowing On-Premises Restaurant Dining with County-Level COVID-19 Case and Death Growth Rates — United States, March 1–December 31, 2020. Here is the part of the study summarizing the actual data:

---

During March 1–December 31, 2020, state-issued mask mandates applied in 2,313 (73.6%) of the 3,142 U.S. counties. Mask mandates were associated with a 0.5 percentage point decrease (p = 0.02) in daily COVID-19 case growth rates 1–20 days after implementation and decreases of 1.1, 1.5, 1.7, and 1.8 percentage points 21–40, 41–60, 61–80, and 81–100 days, respectively, after implementation (p<0.01 for all) (Table 1) (Figure). Mask mandates were associated with a 0.7 percentage point decrease (p = 0.03) in daily COVID-19 death growth rates 1–20 days after implementation and decreases of 1.0, 1.4, 1.6, and 1.9 percentage points 21–40, 41–60, 61–80, and 81–100 days, respectively, after implementation (p<0.01 for all). Daily case and death growth rates before implementation of mask mandates were not statistically different from the reference period.

During the study period, states allowed restaurants to reopen for on-premises dining in 3,076 (97.9%) U.S. counties. Changes in daily COVID-19 case and death growth rates were not statistically significant 1–20 and 21–40 days after restrictions were lifted. Allowing on-premises dining at restaurants was associated with 0.9 (p = 0.02), 1.2 (p<0.01), and 1.1 (p = 0.04) percentage point increases in the case growth rate 41–60, 61–80, and 81–100 days, respectively, after restrictions were lifted (Table 2) (Figure). Allowing on-premises dining at restaurants was associated with 2.2 and 3.0 percentage point increases in the death growth rate 61–80 and 81–100 days, respectively, after restrictions were lifted (p<0.01 for both). Daily death growth rates before restrictions were lifted were not statistically different from those during the reference period, whereas significant differences in daily case growth rates were observed 41–60 days before restrictions were lifted.

Good grief they’re fast to attack the opening states! I was just wondering how quickly we’d see “news” about the opening of businesses and allowing people to enjoy liberty would be quashed with fear. Presto! Already done!
