China's military seems like it is growing in every direction possible.
For example, Chinese shipbuilders are adding new aircraft carriers, amphibs and destroyers at an alarming pace. Chinese armored vehicle engineers are fast-adding new infantry carriers and mobile artillery platforms. Chinese weapons developers are adding large numbers of new drones and attack robots. But the largest and potentially most alarming element of all of this, according to many senior U.S. leaders, is the staggering pace at which China is adding nuclear weapons.
“A troubling revelation has been about the trajectory of the Chinese nuclear program. The Chinese have plans to at least double their arsenal by the end of the decade. They are departing from what has been known as a minimalist theory,” Gen. Timothy Ray, Commander, Air Force Global Strike Command, told reporters at the 2021 Air Force Association Symposium.

Let me think about this a moment.
Nuclear weapons are primarily mass-destruction instruments.
Mass destruction means there must be something to be destroyed.
Things that get destroyed are primarily located in major metropolitan areas.
Major metropolitan areas are focal points for give-me-dats and thugs.
Is the enemy of my enemy my friend, or is the enemy of my enemy my enemy?
This is going to require some serious thought.
So I've read. I recall it's the upper one or two damns that have the problems. However, if either of those go there would be a chain reaction that takes out the main bottom damn. I wonder what CCP would do. Would they put their empire building on hold and deal with the disaster or would they start a war to bring their people together?

The aggressor has the advantage. If they do not fear attack, they can focus on their economy and neglect their military, until they decide to get ready to attack.
China is getting ready to make a move in the not-distant future, my guess being sometime this decade. They will not make their move until they are confident they can beat us.
