I lived in Petaluma for 15 years. Nice little town. Got along with the people especially the people of my congregation. But the politics, yes the land of fruits, flakes and nuts! Glad to have escaped to Texas.

When we moved to this small hillbilly burg back in 1956, it had five grocery stores, eight gas stations all for a population of 500 people.
Today it is 3000 people, one grocery store and three convenience gas stations.

This is such nonsense. This has been going on for over ten years and this paper has reported on it. A little research into their archives and the reporter would have had a better story.
Safeway wants to take up the slack in that strip mall and remove the empty stores and replace them with a multipurpose gas station. Petaluma initially approved and then back pedaled which landed them in legal hot water for the arbitrary action. Unable to ban just Safeway, they ban all new stations. And yes, most existing stations in the area support the action as reported in past articles.
No. This isn’t about the environment. It I should political grandstanding.

One guess as to what part of California will have the most expansive gas from now on.

That will have the effect of giving neighboring cities more income from gas purchases. Liberals have absolutely no insight into human nature.

This is typical Ca political activism (I live here). Virtue signal something that makes you and brain-dead supporters feel good, while pushing consequences (known or unknown) onto others. If there is growth that demands more stations, the neighboring counties will have to do the heavy lifting.
There! Problem solved!
NIMBY, in other words.
