“The class warfare people need to get a grip on what happens,” he said. “When they take over, we become Venezuela and I don’t want that for our country either.”

I'm looking at having to pay twenty-five to thirty thousand dollars in firearm taxes. Go ahead and ask me if I give a F about a wealth tax.

The NRA put them in power and what did they do for us? Did they give us national concealed carry reciprocity? No. they stopped talkin g about that as soon as they had the power to make it happen. Hearing protection Act? Same thing.

What did they do though? Oh, they banned bump stocks right after they gave the wealthy a giant effing tax break. That was our reward for putting them in power.

F them. Pass that wealth tax. Make it painful.

Just a few years ago I would have pointed out that Congress does not have the power to tax wealth.

The 16th amendment granted the Congress to tax income however derived.

Wealth is not income.

But recently I have accepted that the Constitution only matters to the Left when it supports what they want to do or stop the Republicans.

Patriots need to get their rich friends up to speed on Congress’s limited power to appropriate taxes as clarified by 19th century Supreme Court justices.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

Rich people can then push for repeal of 16th and ill-conceived 17th Amendments to put corrupt, tax-happy Congress back into its constitutional Article I, Section 8-very limited power cage, rich people also becoming the tax police for unconstitutional federal taxes.

Congressional Budget Office also needs to be required to promptly publicly report when Congress cannot justify an appropriations bill under its Section 8 powers.

Warren is an extortionist like Hillary. She expects a bunch of rich folks, corporations, and brokers to give her huge sweaty wads of cash to make her proposal go away. DC is the mafia. You have to pay the politicians protection money.

It will be the tax attorney full employment act.

The rich will hide their wealth—or find loopholes in any law.

Taxing the wealthy is like herding cats—it sounds doable in theory, but just does not work in the real world.

A tax on wealth is a tax on property (by definition of the two terms). A tax on property is "direct tax," for the purposes of Constitutional Law (see, for example, the Pollock SCOTUS decision.)

Per article I, section 2 of the US Constitution, a direct tax can only be laid by way of apportionment among the several states. What that means is spelled out more clearly in Article I, section 9, clause 4:

No Capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken.

I tend to agree - used to be against this in principle, but if all these tech billionaires want to push their social agenda, tax the h*ll out of them and make them pay for it all.
