Minneapolis city officials convened during a Zoom call Monday morning to go over public safety preparations for the Derek Chauvin trial, which is set to begin next week.
During the meeting, it was announced that the city will be dropping its plan to pay social media influencers for sharing city-approved messages during the trial. The city originally planned on paying six social media influencers, all coming from various minority communities, $2,000 each during Chauvin's and the remaining three former Minneapolis police officers' trials that will take place later in the year.
"At this point, we will not move forward with this strategy," said David Rubedor, director of the Neighborhood and Community Relations Department for the city of Minneapolis. "While I believe in and support the intention of this recommendation, we have seen that the impact has caused harm in our communities. And for that, I am sorry."
City Coordinator Mark Ruff added, "When we make a mistake, we acknowledge that and do better."
The Minneapolis City Council voted 13-0 on Friday to authorize the contracts.
Chauvin's trial begins Monday with jury selection. He is currently charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter. The other former officers in this case – J Alexander Kueng, Tou Thao and Thomas Lane – are all charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter.
Kueng, Tou and Lane will be tried together in August.

The city police force should have 20 white officers lie down like George Floyd and have 20 black officers kneel on the white ones to prove that the procedure is not at all deadly to healthy people not loaded with dangerous drugs.
I’m 66, and reinacted it myself, being the one being knelt on. Uncomfortable, yes. Was slightly harder to breath. But we breath with our abdomen, not our rib cage. Never felt even light headed. The worst part: a hardwood floor is not a nice place to lay one’s head.

These people who run that town should be ashamed. So bad they have to hire people to go on-line to cheer on their narratives and hate generated propaganda 24/7. No doubt they’ll portray these cops as racist Nazis who wake up every morning hoping they’ll get a chance to murder someone.
The missing charges are Accidental Death by suicide since George Floyd died by his own hand of a drug overdose and the dealer who sold him the drugs would be charged with manslaughter.
Then charge all the rioters.
From what I read, the knee on the neck procedure is an approved technique in the police manual. If that’s so, then if anyone is on trial for murder then everyone who approved that manual should also be on trial for murder.

Counsel needs to examine every freaking dollar appropriated out of this slush fund, and use it overturn Chauvin's Murder3 conviction, which the State of Obliviousnessota is currently petitioning the MN Court of Appeals to add back to the charge at the last minute -- and will probably succeed, because the Court of Appeals simply knows that Man2 = burn burn burn.
