WASHINGTON - Hyatt Hotels Corp called symbols of hate “abhorrent” on Sunday after the design of a stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference at one of its hotels drew comparisons to a Norse rune used by Nazis during World War Two.
A photo of the CPAC stage went viral on social media on Saturday, with thousands of Twitter users sharing posts comparing its distinctive design to an othala rune, one of many ancient European symbols that Nazis adopted to “reconstruct a mythic ‘Aryan’ past,” according to the Anti-Defamation League.
The ceiling of the conference room featured a lighting display in the same shape as the stage, according to Reuters photographs.
Hyatt said all aspects of conference logistics, including the stage design, were managed by the American Conservative Union, which organized the conference.
The comparisons were “outrageous and slanderous,” Matt Schlapp, American Conservative Union chair, said in a Twitter post on Saturday. He added the organization had a “long standing commitment to the Jewish community” and that the conference featured several Jewish speakers.

*Same as “racist” or their new favorite “white supremacist.”
Who are the real NotSees?
See tagline...
And they also used the German language, which has a modified Roman alphabet, so anybody who uses a Roman alphabet is a Nazi.
So switch to Cyrillic. Their letters are kinda kewl.
tagline
Othala Rune
“However, because it is part of the runic alphabet, the symbol can also be found in non-extremist contexts as well, especially runic writing and runestones used by non-racist pagans.
Consequently, care should be taken to evaluate the symbol in the context in which it appears.”
Was that before or after they voted God and Israel off their party platform?
My mistake. At least I got the city correct.
Yep. Commies are so predictable that they would be utterly boring if they weren’t so dangerous.
I had to look for several minutes to find the pattern that they are talking about. It’s not in the logo, it’s painted into the pattern of the walkways on the floor. Considering the shape of the stage, I can understand how the pattern came about. They wanted a layout that was simple and symmetric.
Well DUH! Math is racis!
OOPS! WRONG rune!
No that photo was from the 90s, when she was hot. I’m sure she looks nothing like that today.
See the Hayek quote on my FR profile page. 3rd one down, 2 paragraphs.
Plus, the contractor then gets to feel smarter than everybody else, which is what some liberals excel at doing.
yeah about that
Not even the logo, but the shape of the stage.
That’s as bad as the bowl cut or the “OK” sign. The fiends!/s
OOPS AGAIN, it is actually BOTH.
“The Elder Futhark Odal rune (ᛟ), also known as the Othala rune”
The one pictured, like the stage, is a known VARIATION of the Othala/Odal rune.
Sorry, I’m just not as fluent in “Rune” as I used to be. /s
“While the ACU may have had responsibility for all logistical matters, such as stage design, it is almost a certainty that they outsourced/contracted for that function with some company that does it as a regular business/service. The contract would have included setup/teardown of the actual stage, possibly including the lighting, for a set fee. The oversight from ACU would have been design approval. The person(s) approving the work by the contractor was likely more concerned with colors, lighting on featured speakers/panels, and flow on/off stage. Norse runes and the use of them by the Nazis likely aren’t even in that person’s normally-accessed knowledge set.
IF you are correct, then I think it was INTENTIONAL. Whether the designer just liked the shape from an artist’s perspective, or was a liberal sticking it to CPAC or a far right wing conservative supporting white supremacist’s, In any of those cases they DEFINITELY KNEW the history behind it.
Coincidence? NO WAY!
If you think it is, you are beyond gullible.
“Gullibility is a failure of social intelligence in which a person is easily tricked or manipulated into an ill-advised course of action.”
‘Played it back to be sure I heard what I didn’t hear and yep, they bleeped “cripples”!’
they could’ve deleted the whole movie; absolutely terrible...basically the same story as Rio Bravo, with broken down drunks as lawmen, with some young guy tagging along...in eldorado, the actors are so bored they sleepwalk through it, even Jimmy Caan, who as great as he became, turns in a real stinker here...
Exactly...
